I was instantly transported back to Rome!! True authentic Italian pizza I am absolutely in love with this place. Hands down THE BEST pizza in Utah or for that matter, anywhere. I've had the Settebello pizza (my fav), the Capricciosa, Margharita and the Bianca and they are all amazing! After having your mouth assaulted with the most delicious blend of favors you have ever had you can go next door to their Italian Gelato shop. Can be dressy or casual This place is a MUST try!!

Came in for my pre-marathon carb loading session. I got the diavola pizza with my wife and a bruschetta order. The pizza was very good and tasty. It reminded me of pizza in Rome, which says a lot. It was thin, not chewy, not so covered in cheese while showing fresh ingredients. The bruschetta on the other hand was just ok. The bread was kinda chewy and overpriced ($6 for two pieces). I'd like some softer bread, a little less tomato mix, and perhaps two more pieces per order. Perhaps I'm asking too much. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming too. The look of this place was kinda cool as well. I wouldn't mind another slice. :)

SO good! We had the vico pizza and it was honest-to-goodness the best pizza I've ever had. Our server was so friendly and helpful, if I was a local I'd have an addiction.

Really good pizza but keep in mind you are not going to get Chicago style deep dish pizza here. It is very thin, wood fired pizzas that cook in seconds and come out crispy and loaded with flavor. I like the classic Margherita pizza with balsamic and crushed red pepper. The gelato place next door is a bonus too. Amazing flavors and we always stop in after for a sweet treat. I would recommend this place and we go often enough.

Was looking for a place to take my friends out for dinner, and this one looked pretty decent on its yelp reviews. I went in expecting a good slice of pizza, and was surprised to see that this place offered gelatto as well- I had walked past this place a million times, and the ice cream made our dinner that much better. The pizzas are individual, decent sized and pretty thin-crust. SO delicious. Super rustic. We all sampled each other's slices and I haven't been disappointed by any of our choices. The waitstaff is amazing and made sure we were all taken care of...honestly, they were some of the kindest I've come across. The drinks selection was great too. And don't even get me started on how yummy the gelatto was. We overall had a great time, but my only complain would be how crammed the place is. But the staff is, once again, amazing. and the food so very worth it.

"I'm only charging $37.50, plus you get a pizza bagel and desert." - Kramer, Seinfeld Great thin crust Margherita pie, good selection of beers, but the desserts were amazing - either a classically trained pastry chef is back there or a genius tratorria savant - 'cause the dessert pizza was da BOMB! Must have, will almost guarantee ravenous, passionate, animal-like mating activity afterwards... really. BONUS: Barista's know their craft, espresso and latte were on point. Walking distance from the Marriott @ City Creek, worth the couple of blocks, perfect evening strolling afterwards.

I'm not sure why it took so long for me to get here. Actually I do. It's because when I think pizza I think that it's going to be massively unhealthy, and I try to have restraint. However, my husband and I were recently walking back to our car after a delightful afternoon at ComicCon (meeting Bruce Campbell: A++), hungry because it was on the late side for lunch, and thinking of all those friends who have been giving us crap for not trying Settebello yet. Today was the day we would appease them (and ourselves). Okay. Pizza. They're 12 inches, the waiter said. Good to share. We started with the prosciutto and melon appetizer was was absolutely fantastic. That dish is something that really depends on the ingredients, and the ones we were given were super fresh. Just a very refreshing mix of flavors. This was a true treat. After that, our capricciosa pizza arrived. This is Italian style here, super thin crust (with a perfect, just slightly charred crust). Some cheese but not a lot. I love NY style but I definitely felt better about eating this. The pizza had a bit of prosciutto (I love prosciutto so much) and lots of delicious vegetables. Wonderful, and nice and light. The pizza got a little soggy by the end because the crust was so thin, but this wasn't a big deal. Service was great. Prices weren't so bad for what you get. I'll be back when I want pizza, but I don't want to kill myself. I'm glad I finally got over here.

This is the best pizza in SLC and probably the West Coast. They use Caputo flour which is is key to making the best crust and one that truly have a VPN certification. This is a true pizzeria and you'll need to ask for your pizza to be cut :) All pizzas are cooked to order and make with buffalo mozzarella as well as fresh sauced made from crushed San Marzano tomatoes. They also have salads and there is a gelateria next door.

The food is OK. I was not overly impressed. Wish that they had some menu items with protein as I do not eat pizza.

I ordered the margarita pizza with the homemade sausage. The ingredients themselves were excellent. The tomato was sort of sweet and smoky. Their homemade sausage was a special last night and it was delicious. However, the execution seemed lacking. Perhaps they simply took my pizza out too early, but the cheese wasn't bubbly and the crust was soggy toward the center of the pizza. Things I don't associate with a pizza, fresh from real fire oven. The wait staff was very nice and they create a nice atmosphere. They even have an attached gelato shop.

The food at this place was great. I had a phenomenal prosciutto, artichoke and olive thin crust pizza that is as good as anything I've had in Italy or anywhere in the world. I went next door and had an awesome gelato to top it all off. The gentlemen working the gelato counter was awesome, appreciating the intensive emotional and mental requirements needed to choose a gelato flavor, he offered samples and explained each one. We even tried a little gelato mixology to come with up with the most epic, tiramisu and panna cotta mixture. The place lost a star because at the main restaurant our waitress was pretty bad. Maybe it's because we were in uniform, but even with the place nearly empty there was no effort to build rapport, make us feel welcome or check on us in a timely manner. I'd love to go there again to give it another try but hope the entire wait staff isn't like that.

Top notch service and GREAT tasting pizza! Brick-oven cooked right next the flame makes for a crispy, rustic taste. The ingredients are fresh and ready in just a few minutes. PS- Cannoli is the best I've ever had. Must do date night. Conjoined with a gelato shop, you can't go wrong with a visit here. Enjoy!

This place gets 4 stars from me because the food is really good and the ingredients are fresh and great quality! We went on a Thursday night around 6:45 and we were seated right away. The staff was very friendly at first but went downhill from there. It wasn't horrible or anything and the food came out pretty quickly. Our waitress just seemed to be bugged at us for not choosing what she recommended and then she gave us a hard time about splitting the check. Overall it was great food, cool little spot, yummy gelato. It's not a 5 star or a new favorite that I'll be driving 35 minutes just to eat there but if I'm the area I'll stop in!

Was recommended to me by a friend, and the food was amazing! I will definitely bring friends here in the future, and come back when I'm in the area!

The food was awesome and balanced. However, the service was below one star. Typically, we are 20% tippers. We felt awful leaving a .34 cent tip, but being being poorly seated, stereotyped, hurried, splashed with cheese and olive oil, ignorned, forgotten 4 times, and having a server who would rather be anywhere else but working left us with a bad taste. I suggest to the manager to give a course on customer service and being friendly. I will save the tip for the next server willing to do their job.

We stopped in here quick before having to catch flight. Great food, friendly customer service and delicious gelato/sorbetto. Pizzas are thin and feature quality toppings. Pizzas were finished and brought to our table in less than 5 minutes. Definitely a big plus for us. Was good, wish I could have stayed longer and took more time to enjoy the ambiance and of course the food!

I really enjoyed my dinner at Settebello, the restaurant had a really fun atmosphere. I had a delicious pizza and tried a few of their appetizers as well. It is a bit on the pricey side, especially for how small the servings are, but it was delicious none the less. We had great service, even though we were in a large group. Definitely recommend.

Best Italian pizza in Utah ... Hands down ! We were invited to the restaurant by Italian couples and they mentioned that it's the best Pizza restaurant in Utah and I agree ... It reminds me when I was in Rome ... The only reason I didnot give give stars as they are reserved for pizza restaurant in Italy whereby their ingredients are fresher (fresh tomato, mozzarella, etc)

After having been down here a few more times, I can safely say this is easily my second-favorite pizza place (and one of the few reasons to go downtown) and probably the most expensive one, given that I finally broke down and took advantage of the drinks menu...possibly it took advantage of me, but who's judging? Not me. Pizzas are consistently awesome and it takes some doing but I can overstuff myself here. Did I mention this was the most expensive one for me? I also tried the appetizers and found those to be quite good, though perhaps a little too far over the wretched line of excess, even for someone like me. Service is always top notch and those crafty girls will indulge your gluttony if you also want some gelato from next door. Did I mention the most expens-- ah nevermind. In terms of ambiance for pizza joints, this place is the runaway best. I just really dig hanging out here, especially if you can snag a corner table and you're into people watching. Lots of strange characters downtown and sometimes they wander in here. If you're a fan of ease like myself (convenience whore), then you'll want to time it so you don't have to fight through throngs and can actually park your vehicle. It definitely is a place well worth your time, though.

Really good pizza. Pleasantly surprised. Ambience isn't mind blowing; but we were here at 4:45 pm, so the night time feel hasn't set in. Will recommend and be back.

We have only been once and only tried the Settebello Pizze, but I really enjoyed it. On the other hand, my wife thought it was a bit flavorless, but since this is my review, and not hers, we'll go with what I thought. I'm fairly certain this was authentic Italian style pizza, with subtle flavors, not a lot of "stuff" on top and the crust was superb.

Night and day compared to the first time I went. What I ordered: First off this time the crust wasn't hella burnt/undercooked. Don't get me wrong the yeasty flavor of the dough lends itself to a little char but the last time I was here our pizza was definitely unevenly cooked . Quattro formaggi: Crushed tomatoes, fontina cheese, gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, basil, extra virgin olive oil) Although I liked the pizza my friend ordered more I am glad I ordered this pizza because I got to revisit the more traditional Neopolitan style and it was delicious. The last I was here the pizza (Diavola/Settebello) was a lot more soggy on the inside and too charred on the periphery, but this time it was much more evenly cookedand the different mix of cheeses added great flavor. I have realized that the more traditional pizzas with the San Marzano Pomodoro adds additional water content which makes the crust a little soggy so be prepared to maybe eat some of it with a fork and knife, but for the most part you can pick it up eat it. Bianca (no Crushed Tomatoes) prosciutto crudo, arugula, parmigiano reggiano, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil My friend ordered this pizza and it was my favorite of the night. The lack of San Marzano pomodoro on this pizza gave the crust great structure. It is kind of hard to describe because it wasn't crunchy it wasn't chewy it was just perfect. The prosciutto and the arugula being room temperature gave a nice freshness and temperature contrast to the warm cheese and crust. GELATO I have not tried many but capo gelateria has the best gelato I have ever tasted. I tried the hazelnut gelato and it was bomb. I was so full after dinner but I am so glad I made room for the extra cals because it was worth it. Cut to the Chase 4 stars The good: Some of the best" restaurant" pizza in SLC when cooked properly and EXTREMELY Good Gelato. The Bad: Parking can be a little tricky

Cool setting with gelato place next door. Very kids friendly. Nice salad and tasty charred crust with good toppings. Having a gelato place is a big plus.

I love the crust on wood fired pizzas--just so crispy. Mmmm.... Settebello is no disappointment when it comes to crust. I ordered the Bianca which was absolutely wonderful. Basically an arugula salad, meat, and cheese on crust. Service was attentive and food came out SUPER quick. I was impressed. According to our waiter, the pizzas are designed to be personal sized pizzas, but they easily could satisfy the hunger pangs of 2 people. So I suggest (if you're with a friend) sharing one pizza together & then ordering some desert (their gelato is supposed to be killer) if you still need a few more delicious morsels of food.

Really like this place. I love thin crust so this place makes me happy. Everything is good but I enjoy the the margarita pizza. Service was great and I appreciate the ambiance the most.

Went here for lunch with the wife. We ordered the beet salad and the prosciutto pizza. Both were pretty good. The salad was a sizeable portion. It was pretty fresh although the beets seemed like they were from a package as opposed to fresh off the plant. The pizza was good. We like the dough a lot. However, the prosciutto wasn't like the usual kind. It was more like a ham. However, there was ample amount and everything seemed to work well together. We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was very good. There was no alcohol in it though but rather a raw egg. I like it so much, I wanted to order another one. Prices were reasonable and service was pretty good although we did have to wave the server over to get the check. All in all, it was a good meal.

Pizza has a great crispy crust. The toppings are interesting and fresh tasting. I do not love the help nor the parking situation. We eat here quite frequently, it is consistently good.

Let me clarify - My boyfriend and I ate here on 12/19/14, just going back and reviewing our restaurants while being in SLC for only a few months on a newer Yelp account. Settebello - What can I say, phenomenal Italian cuisine with pizza being their staple. Pizza where we are from is over-done and too casual these days with all the take-out pizza joints popping up left and right. Settebello reminded us where great pizza comes from and is made from SCRATCH. Service was very attentive and the atmosphere was loud - but in a fun, manageable way. The pizza itself was a good price point, all around $13-15 range with a lot of different, high-quality options! We don't live near downtown SLC, but will make a point to visit back again when we venture out-and-about.

Loved their Great thin "crust" pizza !!! For me pizza is 1/2 in the crust. Delicious light flavorful and great size for 2 to share, yummy beer to enjoy and have the gelato after. We shared a bowl Mikkel was a great helpful waiter will head back again ! Not a long wait for food at all, we went Sunday .... no wait Not your Pizza Hut if that's what you're looking for. More Italian style than basic American Delicious

Never eaten pizza in Napoli but I've never had a pizza like this in the US. It's good!

La pizza e' buona! Typical pizza from Italy. Fresh and delicious ingredients and the pizza is the best. The atmosphere is VERY loud. 2 of us walk out of there with a drink each, pizza each at $58 bucks. If you like good Italian pizza then this is your place however don't count on intimate conversation....

I'm usually not a pizza person so it took me a while to try out Settebello, but I've been back 3 times in the past few months!! I've never had trouble getting a table and if it's super crowded, we can usually sit at the bar. I actually prefer the bar seating because you can watch them make and cook the pizza. Service has always been friendly and spot on with the recommendations. Food comes out fast and delicious. Sometimes too fast. I don't feel like it's the type of place you go for a lengthy dinner and conversation. I think the maximum time I've spent eating here has been 50 minutes :) Probably because the pizza is so good, we scarf it down. Super thin, crispy crust and fresh ingredients. Can't really go wrong when it comes to selection - I've tried new pizzas every time and they never disappoint.

The gelato next door does not disappoint! I had a wonderful, fresh nutella flavored gelato and an americano to drink. Both were great quality. The staff was noticeably friendly. Two had authentic Italian accents.

Consitently excellent. Classic Neapolitan recipes, executed expertly by, mostly, Mexicans. As a perk, the gelateria next door let's you finish your meal with a range of amazngly good gelatos, made right there by.......an Italian guy.

The words I write cannot describe how good this place is. If the pizza portion was a little bigger, or if a bit more seasoning was added, or if it was slightly more cooked, I don't think I would've enjoyed it. For some reason, this place has one of those "gourmet" restaurant feels where everything is extremely expensive, portions are extremely small, but the food quality is exceptionally high. I actually never been to one of those places because I didn't like how high the prices were for such places. I came here because I was craving pizza, so why not? I found this place on Yelp, and apparently the most popular pizza was the Margherita. I didn't want to take any chances, so I just went with it. The pizza didn't take that long to arrive, and it was cut into six slices. Since I was eating with two other people, we had only two slices each. I found my slices to be really delicious, but sort of unfilling. I guess that adds to how much I enjoyed it because I have a dislike for pizzas that fill me up. The thin crust was chewy and soft. I noticed that they make their pizzas from scratch and they have their own oven/stove/furnace sort of thing (I have no idea what it's called), but it looks really cool and +1 for that. I ordered ice cream (or is it gelato?) afterwards. I think the portion size for that was fit for 3 people, and the previous pizza was fit for one. I could not finish the whole thing by myself. I had hazelnut and pistachio. Both were amazing. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between ice cream and gelato, but if there is one, I'll just go with it. They're amazing nonetheless. Honestly, when I woke up the next morning, I was pretty much starving. This rarely happens as I am almost never hungry in the morning. But to me, this is a good thing: I can eat pastries and croissants for breakfast without feeling full! (I'm on vacation, mind you)

I have been to this restaurant several times but never took the time to write a review. It's been excellent every time I've been there. This time we brought our friends and there was a large group of us; 8 including 4 children. This gave us an opportunity to try even more of the menu items. The pizza here is as authentic as it gets...just like Naples. We had the Settebello pizza, Marinara pizza (two of our guests are dairy free), two types of Bruschetta (artichoke and margherita), Meatballs, Involtini di Prosciutto and the Insalata Grande. Everything was excellent. The Insalada Grande is absolutely delicious with thin slivers of fresh parmesan on top. The pizza is fantastic. They obviously make their own sauce because it's delicious and the cheese is very fresh. We loved that they use authentic meats as well. The meatballs...what can I say except they remind me of the what my husband's Italian grandmother would make. They use a mix of meats in them like traditional Italians do. They are soaked in sauce and fresh mozzarella. They came with a generous helping of focaccia which we used to mop up all the extra delicious sauce. Everyone was so in love with them we had to order another helping! The Involtini was fresh and divine. What a unique mix of cheeses. The prosciutto was fresh and authentic. I was a bit skeptical about the Marinara pizza because I really like cheese on my pizza, but the sauce is so good that it was delicious with just the crust (which is divine) and the sauce with some basil. We also had two kids pizzas; one cheese and one with sausage. The kids love them as well! Service was perfect as always. Mikkel was our waiter and he was very helpful and attentive to our group. While we didn't have gelato this visit, I've had several flavors before and it's fantastic. Delicious, creamy and very flavorful.

Was here earlier in the month with a large group. There were about 30 of us. We did call ahead and make a reservation so they had it all set up for us. We had many appetizers and lots of different pizza. The food was excellent, and the staff was incredible. We felt like we had some great personal service and everyone was so friendly. The pizza is great. I love the flavor, the thin crust and how fresh everything tasted. I don't get downtown often and had not been here in a long while, but it was great the last time and even better this time.

My choice for best thin crust in slc. This is authentic, Italian-style pizza. It's pizza that demands to be eaten with respect--knife and fork in hand. Mind, you don't have to eat it this way, but I honor pizza worth honoring. Plus, you can get a bottle of spiral jetty to wash it down, so there's that.

My friend who lived in Italy for a while said that he thought the place was one hundred percent authentic. The waitress was sort of cute as well. The meal I had was on the lighter side but tasted really well.

Their crust is too soggy and watery and has no flavor at all. 0 stars for the pizza, 5 stars for their ice cream which is very tasty and is very cheap. average rounded up to 3 stars.

Word of the day, AMAZEBALLS. Perfect spot to go on a laid back Sunday afternoon. I'm pretty particular when it comes to a pizza pie but Settebello hit the mark. The crust is PERFECT. Thin and cooked to a crisp perfection with high quality toppings. Just an fyi because I was unware before going, the only entrees are pizzas. So make sure if you are going, you're going for the pizza (they had some salads and appetizers as well).

Settebello, or A Tale of Two Restaurants... Settebello is what many people consider to be SLC's best pizza. With that in mind, here are my impressions. Restaurant A: This version of Settebello uses excellent, imported ingredients and turns out decent wood-fired pies. The salads are simple and lightly dressed. They have a few Italian beers on the menu. This Settebello is a serviceable representation of a "serious" pizza joint. To be clear, outside of SLC, Settebello would die on the vine in a strip mall somewhere. It's good for a neighborhood, but driving more than 3-4 miles for these pizzas is a waste of gas. Restaurant B: This Settebello is fucking joke. The word ambience has it's roots in the French language. That must be why the owners and management have worked hard to KILL any quality feeling for diners at Settebello. It has, without a doubt, a horrible interior design and layout. There is virtually no theme other than "Pier 1 Italian." There are giant tables and big, tall round tables. They are all bare...until they hand you a PAPER napkin with your utensils. For the love of GOD--get cloth naps people. It feels like they ran out of money. The worst of it is that the layout of the restaurant actually amplifies noise. So all those (over)large families shoving $12 pies with "eye-talian" bacon on it sound like feeding time at Hogle Zoo. The noise level at dinnertime is almost equal to Chuck E Cheese. The pies are good, not great and not the best in town. The toppings are applied a little slapdash. I don't mean that they should drench the pizzas in guanciale, but they need to give you more than 3 slices. Also, when you apply pignoli to a pizza don't throw them on one half only. I will return to Settebello. There is the seed of decent pizza stashed somewhere in that place. The stakes are high though, because they are reaching for a high standard. At this point they aren't reaching it.

Real italian pizza. The kind that you tear and not cut. All the ingredients imported from Italy. I love this place but the service staff acts like they are the only shit in town. They're not anymore. Try Sea Salt for great Italian as well.

yes, i was skeptical at first but then pleasantly surprised. the restaurant is close to the sheraton (where we stayed) and is very relaxed, understated, and inviting. it's a good size restaurant. parking is a little bit of a pain b/c the lot in the back is small and parking on the street is limited. i think there is valet but not sure. we didn't have a reservation but were seated within 15 mins. you are asked to wait next door in the gelato cafe before they call you - capo gelateria (my favorite!). ingenious! there were 4 of us. we ordered 2 pizzas and 3 salads. the caprese was a good size for the price but it wasn't anything super exciting. the other salads were quite yummy and i would definitely order them again (insalata and insalata grande). for pizzas, we had the quattro stagioni and it was yummy. our friends ordered some special w/ prosciutto and egg. we didn't finish all of our pizzas - ended up picking the toppings off of them. :) the only downside was after all the toppings are on the pizza, by the time it got to us, the crust (thin) was pretty soggy. i am a fan of thin crust but when it's soggy, not so good. if i was in town, i would come back to this place for the salads. i think the salads were better than the pizzas in my opinion. but i have to say the best part...is the the gelato place (cappo gelateria?) next door. hands down the best gelato i have had in some time. the coconut has real coconut flakes. the pistachio and strawberry are divine - not artificial tasting whatsoever. the pinneapple wasn't too exciting. we tried to go back on sunday but of course it was closed.

Heard great things about Settebello, decided to give it a try over the holiday. Had a rucola salad and split the quattro stagioni and bianca with mom and sis. The salad was overly lemon-y, too tart for me. I asked for some shaved parmesan, whose saltiness really helped offset the sourness of the lemon. The pizzas came hot out of the oven, looked good, if perhaps a bit sparse. Ask for the pie to be sliced if that's what you want, otherwise it comes out uncut and you'll need a knife and fork. Fresh tasty crust, thin and a bit charred, tho' no more than most brick oven pizza. Both pizzas were good, but neither combination was inspirational. The quattro stagioni is fun cuz it's sort of 4 pizzas in one, but in the end i preferred the bianca over any of the 4 flavors of the q.stagioni. The wine list is pretty minimal, all italian. I went for the Morgante, not as big as i'd hoped, but ok. Service was good, the vibe inside wasn't as small italian as i was imagining. More burger pub than quaint Napoli. Definitely worth a try if you're into this style of pizza.

Stopped in a couple weeks ago at the start of a road trip. I've been to their location in Las Vegas a year+ ago, and it was kind of bad, but I later heard they were having oven problems and finally had them replaced. I decided to try the SLC location when I was there. They had a nice Acunto oven and really seemed to know what they were doing. I had my friend watch when they put the pizza in the oven as he had never seen Neapolitan pizza cooked before... He could not believe how fast they puffed up and cooked (about 60 seconds). Authentic, and much much better than the first time I tried them. Highly recommended.

Enigma. I had high hopes for Settebello after rave reviews from friends. However, I'm left speechless. The pizza was good, a beautiful chewy crust and mediocre wine--really, I could've made it at home. The reason for the 2 star review is the holding area where they corral guests that are waiting for their tables. See where I'm going with this one? This bare room, that had a gelato bar (not necessarily what I want BEFORE dinner) was loud, and separate from the dining room--guests couldn't have an a glass of wine or beer, which was super uncomfortable. It seems like Settebello caters towards the non-drinking crowd of SLC, which is fine, but let's be serious, we drinking heathens are beginning to take over the city! Give us something to drink while we wait, like cattle, for your mediocre pizza! Our service was awkward (must have been new), but the bathrooms were DISGUSTING. I'm a lady, and if the women's restroom was as deplorable as it was, (think third day of a three day music festival port-a-potty disgusting) I'd never go back. I love pizza and I don't mind paying a lot for good pizza--just make the bathrooms clean and offer me a drink other than coffee and it'd be more enjoyable. Cut to the chase: I'll pass on Settebello next time.

Amazing!!! Maybe it's because I'm not from Utah, but I was pretty surprised to find this little gem in the heart of Salt Lake City. It's a place I would've never noticed walking by. The service was great. Good selection of beers and drinks. Amazing authenticity in the rustic Italian pizza and appetizers. The place gets pretty crowded when there are events at the salt palace, probably because everyone knows how good it is. But the awesome thing about the wait, which i don't mind at all, is that you can chill at the little gelato place next door and have a bit of a palate cleanser before your meal. When your table is ready, the hostess will call you in and show you to your seat. Depending on your appetite, I would get one pizza per person and an appetizer plate to share. However, for a person who eats less, I would just split a pizza and appetizer with someone. The pizza is a more of a traditional type of pizza with a thin crust and lightly topped with your preferred toppings. Each pizza is made to order and cooked near the front of the restaurant in these massive wood ovens. It's a great experience and all the ingredients are so fresh. I would call this place pretty authentic because everything seems to be imported from Italy, even down to the salt and pepper. =)

The most epic and amazingly great napo' pizza place I have ever tasted in the US. This is pizza the way it is made in Italy. I seriously thought about bringing some home on the plane.

Setabello pizza - not good. I can see and appreciate what they're trying to do here: nice classy place with high quality Neapolitan food. Problems with the place: how the heck did a place with this high of occupancy get away with only one toilet for men and one for women? I waited in line for the men's office only to see a woman come out, poor gal must have been even more annoyed at the lack of human waste receptacles than I was. Lighting: if you're trying to create a nice ambiance, don't put freaking 1000 watt bulbs in your 5' o.c. Lighting fixtures. It's brighter in there than a doctors office. Food: tried an appetizer that was pretty good ( arugula and goat chess wrapped in that cured bacon stuff). Pizza: tried both the setabello and the margarita. Uhhh. It sucked? I have never been so thoroughly disappointed with pizza :( Canned freaking mushrooms? Really? My fellow Salt Lakeans are OK with this?

Man, this was good pizza. My first experience with Settebello was eating my husband's leftover pizza that he brought home one night. The next day he was looking for his leftovers and only found a guilty looking wife. I finally went to the restaurant itself and really enjoyed the proscuitto wrapped arugula salad- what delicious olive oil and balsamic! We then shared a margherita pizza and had some slices from our companion's pizzas. All delicious with really great quality ingredients. The crust just jives with my pizza soul- it's exactly what I seek in pizza crust: thin, chewy, and crispy in just the right way with a smidge of charcoal taste from the oven. (Of course, pizza being such a personal thing for people, my opinion is likely not the same as yours...) Sure, it's not cheap, but in my opinion, terrific pizza shouldn't be cheap- that's what national delivery pizza chains are for. The restaurant itself is actually quite large, but I hear that it does get busy at times. We were there on a Sunday night with quite a large group and had no trouble getting seated. Capo Gelateria is right next door, and you can stay at your table and they'll serve you gelato for dessert, or you can get up and walk right on over for dessert.

On a business trip from Boston (location of what I believe to be the best pizza around), I had a craving for pizza in Salt Lake City. I have to say that Settebello is pretty delicious. The place was pretty packed at 7pm, but I sat at the bar. The guys making the pizza were incredibly efficient and my food only took 10 minutes. Great, fresh toppings on nicely cooked crust. No complaints here.

I spent a few years in Italy and I must say that the pizza and salads at Settebello are very authentic. I recently lunched at Settebello and was very impressed with the quality of food. I ordered the Margarita pizza and added the arugula salad on top. I think that these two items were a perfect combination. I recommend going to lunch here because at dinner it gets really busy. The service was not stellar but the food trumps the service. Definitely check this SLC gem out. While there make sure to save room for the gelato! PS the Gellat

Having just arrived in town after three solid days of driving across the country with my mother, who made the trip with me because she needed to see with her own eyes that I am going to be okay living here (yes I am twenty-eight years old; let's not talk about it), I needed to find a place that would be quick and low-key, but nice enough to make a good first impression on an anxious parent. I did a quick search for pizza places close to our hotel, checked the reviews on Yelp, and headed here. Settebello came through for me. Friendly service, inviting atmosphere and reasonable prices. We split a margherita pizza and an insalata grande salad and it was the perfect amount of food for two travel-weary people. Nothing so revolutionary here, but a very nice spot indeed.

Passed by numerous times and have always intended to stop in. Finally made it happen and was a bit let down. Bear in mind that we hit the legendary Pizzeria Bianco regularly so the bar is set pretty high. The pizza was solid. Good...not great. Service was almost too prompt. Our pies arrived about 3 minutes after ordering. Such a great setting and felt almost like you're being shuttled in and out. Again, my expectations were pretty high so that affects the rating here.

To be honest, i don't really like pizza, but Settebello makes me swoon. This is the standard by which I judge all other pizza. The ingredients are so incredibly fresh. I like to start with the Rucola salad - fresh arugula, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper - (enough to share) and a glass of Aglianico. Then, I'll talk my friend into sharing a spicy Diavola - salami, roasted red peppers, chile, and garlic - and the Capricciosa - ham, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. If we're still hungry, then we'll round it out with a hearty sausage Settebello pie. For $12/pie, you can afford to split three of them. Now, if I could just convince them to open up a location in Portland...

Traveling through. Friends suggested saying great thin crust in killer hot oven. Original Italian style pizza. It was really thin and original style, but not light and crispy. Center crust was soggy/soaked. Edges were chewy and a little tough with no flavor in the dough. And I'm being super critical because all the stars were aligned for an amazing pizza. Slightly missed the mark, but not disappointed I went. I doubt something similar exists in town and had a pizza craving. Oh, the caprese salad was excellent. Enough for two. Do go. A gelato place is adjoining and friends raved about that but we didn't imbibe.

I've been here 3 times in the past 2 months. And I live in California. I make it a point to come here when I'm in Utah - and so far, no regrets. The pizza is great - but don't forget to order a salad! The caprese (sliced tomato and fresh mozzarella medallions, drizzled in olive oil, topped with basil) is refreshing - I always add fresh cracked pepper and balsamic vinegar. The Rucola salad (arugula with lemon juice and sea salt) is deceivingly simple in description. But don't order it unless you're splitting with a few people or really have an arugula obsession because that's all there is to it: Arugula. The pizza is fantastic; I'm partial to the margherita. Minus one star for the occasional charred edge or bottom of the pizza which is often inedible. I realize it comes with the territory of wood baked pizza - but I get depressed when there's a bit of this manna I don't get to finish. My favorite part of the pizza is the tomato sauce - which tastes so fresh - like real, crushed tomatoes, not over processed, sugary dark, canned tomato mix at most every other pizza place. And you must leave room for gelato. Go next door and take a look at the gorgeous display before tasting a few, then upping your order to a medium to be able to have 3 flavors instead of 2. ;) My favorite is the stracciatella (mint and chocolate - divine!) My second favorite, which they always have is the chocolate - smooth and creamy and full of flavor. The grossest thing - ever - imo is the ricotta with balsamic glaze. But I *did* give it a shot. Just consider yourself warned by my sacrifice. ;) Boo for the one-person bathrooms, too. Poor planning, Settebello! I often see women walking out of the men's bathroom. And I don't blame them. Enjoy!

Great pizzas and staff! The only thing keeping me from making this 5 stars is the non-existence of a kids menu. I know that this is specialty pizza place, but having the option of getting a kids size pizza would have been nice.

Yes it has authentic, high-quality ingredients, but let's not get too carried away. Toppings are important--and Settebello has everything you'd expect, with reputable pedigrees in spades. To be honest, I'm not the best judge on the authenticity scale here, but several very trusted friends who are vouch for this place. The crust is delectable--on the edges. Unfortunately, we suffered from the same "soggy" problem another reviewer observed on our two pizzas. On top of that, the service is easily distracted and the interior space is a step above a food court. Even so, let's not be too nitpicky here. You can't beat the location and it is among the best places in SLC for Neapolitan-style oven pizza.

Awesome service, pizza and gelato (next door). Our server was very, very kid friendly -which is a big plus with us. My little munchkin enjoyed watching the pizzas being assembled, put into the oven and then pulled out of the oven onto a plate where it was sliced and waiting for the server. Perfect restaurant time waster for kids.

I have never been to Italy, so i can't speak to the authenticity of the pizzas. However, I did live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where the pizzas are very similar to true Italian style. Either way, this was great pizza. It's not American, so if you're looking for thick crust, overloaded with cheese and greasy toppings, it's not the place for you. However, if you're looking for a good tasting, lighter pizza, this place is awesome. I ordered the margherita, which is my favorite pizza of all time. I loved the wood-oven baked crust. It had that wood fire taste and was crunchy yet chewy in all the right places. The toppings were admittedly sparse. I don't care how authentic it is, I wish the cheese had been spread all over the pizza instead of in globs. After dinner, we walked on over to the gelateria next door. GREAT gelato and a perfect light after dinner treat. The only downside to the restaurant that we saw was the lack of appetizers. It would've been nice to have some bread served to you as your pizza bakes, but other than that, we really loved it.

Thanks for embarrassing me in front of my Singaporean friends with your mediocre and floppy pizza, Settebello. My friends insisted on going to a casual place, and they didn't want Mexican or pub food, so I was at a loss of where to go. I wasn't about to bring two people from one of the food capitals of the world to an Indian, Thai or Chinese place because I knew they got better at home. I stupidly let someone in the group lead us to Settebello. In a nutshell, Settebello was boring, blah, bad-service, kid-infested, over-salted and floppy. Seriously, it was like someone had bathed the damn pizza in chicken broth it was so disgustingly floppy-moist. The ambiance was wretched as well (too bright, loud, and millions of screaming children) and our server kept messing up our order and forgot our drinks after being reminded two times. My friends were incredibly gracious, but they obviously hated the pizza (hardly ate any)... as did I as you may have guessed. This is the last time I will see these friends for many, many years and thanks to Settebello it was a visit nearly ruined. My fiance investigated the VPN certified stuff after the fact, being as enraged as I was, and apparently it means next to nothing. A few friends, having heard our horror story, swear up down and sideways that it was a freak accident that our pizza and service was so awful. So, maybe someday I will try it again (as I would love to have a pizza I like in town) but for now... no way. I really miss Baci at times like this!

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious their sauce is and how fresh the pizza tasted. I didn't feel like I was eating the kind of pizza you would think -- greasy, cheesy, etc... It was far better, filling, but not over the top, and amazingly fresh. Can you find a better pizza in Italy? Probably. But we're in Utah, so let's be realistic. If you prefer the huge slice, greasy cheese piles, this is probably not the place for you. Overall, my taste buds were extremely pleased.

Best pizza west of Chicago. Really great atmosphere, there was a wait, but it was worth it. If you go as a couple, go for the bar over looking the brick ovens. We had the margarita pizza the night I proposed to my fiance. She said "yes", and I am sure that made it all the better. The sauce was perfect, and that with the cheese and crust baked in the brick oven created the most synced flavor and texture. Great place for a small vacation.

I gave Settebello another chance a month after I wrote the review below. This time the pizza was cooked slightly longer (seconds) and it made all the difference. The dough was soft, not soggy, and it brought out the flavors. It is a bit of a tightrope they walk as far as cooking it right because it is cooked for such a short time. It is important that they don't under cook it. I would rather have it slightly overcooked than undercooked. Only good pizza. It could be excellent pizza if they cooked it. The flavor is great (including the dough) but they only warm it (I watched and timed it, no pizza was in the oven for more than a minute while I was there). The pizza was soggy. They make a really good pizza. Take it home and put it in your oven (500 for 1 min?) and you should have a very good pizza.

I so wanted this place to be good. We are hosting two teenage boys from Japan for ten days. They are here for a Golf exchange program, so when the plane landed and we met them at the airport we asked them what they wanted for their first dinner in America. Pizza they exclaimed! Margharita Pizza! So my wife and I both thought this would be a great time to try the pizzas we have heard so much about at Settebello. So we took them home, dropped off the luggage and we were off to pizza. Now this is Napoli Pizza, baked in a wood fired oven and many of the ingredients are imported directly from Italy. They boys both ordered the margharita pizza, I had the Lasagne pizza and my wife's pizza had proscuito, Olives and Artichoke hearts (can't remember the name of it). They pizzas arrived within 10 minutes of ordering and our guests eyes grew about ten times bigger as these HUGE pizzas were set in front of them. They looked WONDERFUL. That is unfortunately where it ended. While the pizzas looked great from the top, they didn't taste great. My fennel sausage was bland, my wife's olives were far too salty and while tasty on their own, they overwhelmed the pizza. But those are minor problems considering the crust. Our crusts were burned on the bottom. Not just a little burned, but truly, deeply dark, charcoal burned. Dark to the point they left little rivers of black juice when the crust met the tomato juice. The taste of burned crust also overwhelmed the pizza and was probably the reason I could not taste my fennel sausage. While, I might have complained and did not, our guests did not seem to care or notice and they ate each of their pizzas with wide eyes and happy mouths. The continuous refills of soda also surprised and amazed them. Because of their joy we let our feelings lay and enjoyed the experience with them. I have heard and read so many good things about the pizza here, because of this I will go again and give them another chance and chalk it up to a bad night with the oven. However, if the second pizza is as burned, I will not be back.

Love the pizza, reminds me of italy every time. Usually not too bad of a wait. Only thing that keeps getting me is no matter when I go my server can't seem to refill my water. Otherwise love it and will keep going back despite the water issue.

I LOVE Settebello! Everytime I go, I have a great experience. I highly recommend finding out what specials they have, but every pizza I've had is great. The Pizza Carbonara is fun with egg and pancetta. Great food, fun atomosphere, and an easy location to get to!

The pizza at Settebello's is amazing. Coming from Southern California, we had a ton of really good pizza places in the metro areas of Los Angeles, San Diego, and Orange County. Settebello's blows them away. The Settebello pizza with pine nuts is my absolute favorite and I salivate every time I think of it. There is nothing better than a slice of the settebello pizza devoured and then washed down with an ice cold Dr. Pepper.

  • Katie T.

Yummmmmmmmy! The ingredients were fresh and the pizza wasn't overly greasy. The spicy oil that they put on the tables is also really good. My only criticism is that my pizza came out cold and I did not like how globby the cheese became because I could not get a bite with a good cheese to tomato ratio. Ask for a nutella, strawberry, and banana dessert pizza though! We went late on Saturday night when they were close to closing, but the staff was patient and very friendly (even though they probably wanted to leave).

  • Jewel M.

I loved the pizza topping choices at Settebello, but was on a tight budget so I just went with the margherita. The sauce, cheese, oil, and basil were delicious and I loved the "chew" of their deceptively thin crust. My only complaint was the amount of burnt crust on the bottom. Yes, burnt. I likes little carmelization on foods, a little toastiness, a bit of char, but this was nasty. I had to peel much of the underside away. Once I did, it was delicious.

  • Nat B.

I really enjoy this style pizza, and they do a great job of it here. As I've said about Capo, it's the closest thing to Italy that I have found in Utah. Definitely worth stopping here for lunch or dinner. Don't expect loads of toppings--it isn't the Italian way. However, because the crust is deliciously thin, you don't need that many for it to be fabulous!

While there is typically a line to get in on the weekends, the food is always worth the wait! My personal favorite is the Diavola pizza--it is nice and spicy! Be sure to order a salad as well; they are always delicious. I request some balsamic vinegar to go along with the pizza and it is delicious!

  • Kristal K.

The wood-fired pizza here screams Italian. I usually split a margarita pizza with the hubby and have a little salad on the side. I could sip their balsamic vinaigrette with a spoon! Close out the evening with a cup of Illy coffee and you will be content. This is a big change from The Pie down the street as it is a more delicate and robust flavor rather than a (pleasantly) greasy face-stuffing experience. If you are in the mood for real Italian pizza, this is the place to go.

  • Paul H.

The pizza would have been good, but the crust was way too burned to enjoy it. I tasted more carbon than pizza. The other problem I had was that my salad came put only one minute before the pizza.

Woohoo, finally a decent pizza in Utah! Everything that is wrong with NYPD pizza is made right in this place. This is the perfect example of what a blistering hot oven (wood-fired in this case) can do to make a thin and crispy yet chewy crust. I wouldn't quite call it New York-style; the pizzas are sized for individuals, only 12 inches wide, and not amenable to folding over like you were in the Village (or even Newark for that matter). Nor would I say it were authentically Neopolitan (notwithstanding the certification from the Vera Pizza Napoletana organization based in Naples, ostensibly created to preserve the history and integrity of the Neopolitan pizza). The mozzarella in the Margherita was not made from buffalo milk, and so had none of the tang or body of a true mozarella di bufala. Nevertheless, the pizza we got was truly tasty, piping hot from the oven. We started with an Insalata Grande, consisting of mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette, artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Kalamata Olives, and pine nuts. It was delicious though the portion size certainly did not measure up to the name. As for the pizzas, the crusts were perfectly blistered with a nice crunch, yet they retained enough resistance for a lingering chewiness. The Margherita was topped with crushed San Marzano tomatoes, the mild mozarella, fresh basil leaves, and a drizzle of olive oil. Delicious. The Del Cafone was topped with sausage, roasted peppers, roasted onions, mozzarella, and basil. In this incarnation, the pizza was not quite a success as it tasted a little dry...it would have really benefitted from a nice drizzle of olive oil or even from some crushed tomatoes. Our service was friendly and efficient, but dinner was not cheap. This meal came to $41 with tax and tip, and it's not like we left feeling we had to be rolled out the door. I also suspect that those people raised on Dominoes and Pizza Hut will not like this version. Toppings tend to be sparse and the pizzas are very delicate (adhering to the Mario Batali doctrine that Italian food is all about the balance of ingredients). Nevertheless, this place was a revelation for us and we will gladly be back soon!

My husband and I visited Italy a few months back and loved the food and the gelato/sorbetto. Searching Utah for some authentic Napoli pizza, I came across the reviews for Settebello on Yelp. We were excited to try it since we enjoyed the pizza in Naples so much. It is authentic Napoli pizza and they are a member of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. They import the ingredients from Italy. We like the low acidity and taste of the San Marzano tomatoes, grown in the volcanic soil near Mt. Vesuvius. The Margherita pizza looked and tasted just like it did in Naples. One thing I thought a little strange, we ordered foccacia bread and it looked like a plain cheese-less pizza with herbs. I thought foccacia bread was a little thicker and denser. Tasted good though. The only downer was the waitress seemed rushed, it was a busy Friday night. So, overall, delizioso!!!

Settebello is primarily a Neapolitan style pizza restaurant. Authentic Neapolitan pizzas are usually made with local ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes, and Buffalo mozzarella. The dough is kneaded by hand, not very thick, and baked in a stone oven with an oak-wood fire. When cooked, it should be crispy, tender and fragrant. While there are certainly other Italian dishes on the menu the only real reason to eat here is for the pizza. Neapolitan pizza has three main versions; pizza marinara, pizza Margherita, and pizza Margherita extra. Settebello has these three as well as other Americanized derivations, so there should be something for almost everyone. The pizza is good to be sure, but not great. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. But when it comes to execution I think the chef as left too much to be done by inexperienced cooks. The pizzas are routinely either burned, not laid out well, or just too sloppily cooked. I have also had very soggy, flimsy crust in some of the pizzas I have ordered. The flavors of the ingredients are somewhat brought out but muted by the poor baking process. If the cooks were given more supervision or perhaps guidance the results would be a much improved pizza unhampered by poor cooks. Service is good. For desert there is an adjoining gelato shop that you can order from a wide selection of gelati as well. The interior decor is nice and the mood is lively. Great place for a small group to dine together. On weekends you might have to wait a while for a table as Settebello can quickly become overwhelmed by patrons. Your parking options are little constrained as well. There is valet parking and several nearby private lots, but the prices are unreasonable. There are a few spots on the road but that can be hit and miss.

Delicious pizza, I had the Margherita and loved it. The hazelnut gelato was fantastic. I've been twice and the first time my pizza was a bit burned and the second time our waitress could've paid more attention to us but really we came for the pizza and it was great.

  • William B.

Yes, the crust is simultaneously a bit burnt on the bottom and a bit too soggy on top-- I assume this means that their oven burns a little bit too hot, but better too hot than too cool. Nonetheless, if you want what one of my co-workers terms "yuppie pizza"-- i.e., genuinely Roman-style pizza with a thin, wood-cooked crust, real mozarella, and toppings like artichoke hearts, this is the place to go. If I lived around the corner from 2Amy's in Washington ( yelp.com/biz_link?biz_id… ), there'd be no need to go here, but I don't, so there is.

This is different pizza than what you would expect from pizza hut. Don't buy into Andrew's review, if he wanted pizza hut that's what he should have ordered. I really like the settebello pizza. I cant speak to the salads quality, I've only had the pizza. But, the ingredients are fresh, the crust is tasty and gelato to top it off makes me happy.

As someone who grew up in the land of pizza (New York City, not Italy), I have pretty high standards when it comes to it. So let me say that while Settebello does not meet the standards of the better pizza places in NYC or SF (where I live now), for Utah, it is definitely on the better side of affordable cuisine here. I started out with a small mixed salad, which had a very nice shaved Parmesan cheese on it, a heapful in fact, and balsamic and EVOO. Now I would prefer a little less cheese and add a few cherry tomatoes, and also a little less dressing, but it was good nonetheless. The pizza I got was a marghareta with artichoke hearts and arugula. While the pizza was decent, it was a little watery, and there a was a little too much arugula heaped on top. Also, the cheese could have been spread out a little more finely as it was globbed up a little bit. The crust was very well done though, a nice thin crust, cooked just right. Also, there was a nice hint of garlic in the sauce that added something to the depth of taste of the pizza. As for atmosphere and service, I went during off hours (about 3pm), and only 2 ppl in here besides me, and service was good, and I could relax and eat my pizza in peace. The food came quickly and they refilled my water often. The atmosphere was relaxing at this time of day, but I could see it being more lively during the lunch rush and dinner time hours. Now, please remember, I am a pizza snob, so this review is very picky. That being said, while in Salt Lake City, this is not a bad place to go for a small thin crust pie.

I love this place! My favorite is the Diavolo pizza, which I get just about every time I go here. This is the best, most authentic pizza you can get in SLC. They have a Gelato/Sorbet bar that has a pretty amazing assortment of flavors, always a great way to finish off an amazing dinner.

This place has got some great Italian pizza, like most people have already said. If you're want an American pizza this isn't the best place to go , but if you want good food and you want to see what Italian pizza is like then this is a good place. The price is good and you'll walk away satisfied. I'm not sure who puts cheese on the pizza but they aren't very consistent my pizza had tons while my friends didn't have hardly any; maybe this was based off what type of pizza you have. The cheese is also obviously added as chunks rather than shredded, since it's thick in places and non-existent in others rather than the even distribution most of us are probably used to from delivery pizza. Personally I don't consider this "Pizza" at least not from my American upbringing. Pretentious people will argue saying that this is real pizza and that what I define as pizza isn't. Personally I believe that the only reality is your own and in my reality this isn't pizza, it's ITALIAN pizza. That being said I highly recommend people check it out. It's good food regardless what you call it and really that's what matters.

We had visited Settebello shortly after it opened a year or so ago. We had a good experience but hadn't been back. We made an impromptu decision to go there again on New Year's Eve and it was sensational! We're big fans of thin crust pizza typically served in Italy and around Europe. We've never found really suitable substitutes here in the USA. We had no problem getting a table for two at around 6:30-7:00 p.m. Lots of families with kids. Settebello doesn't do reservations under eight people, but will put you on their list up to an hour out. We did that, but it wasn't necessary. We were there until 8:00 p.m. and it was much busier than. We brought our own wine but a quick glance at the wine list and we stowed ours for another occasion. There's a wide selection of really decent Italian wines from $25-40. The best deal on the list is a $30 Aglianico from Campania. It's one we especially like and quite a bargain. We split a Rucola salad with a light olive oil and lemon dressing. The salad was massive for $4.99 and plenty for both of us. Carole went with the Bianca and I chose the Settebello, a mixture of Italian fennel sausage (sliced), crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, pancetta (bacon), pine nuts and more. The sausage was extraordinary. The crust was perfect and had a great smoky taste. Carole's Bianca was also great, albeit a bit rich with heavy portions of prosciutto. Each pizza was around $12, a real bargain for what you got. Best of all was the combination with the Aglianico wine. Service was fast and friendly with a huge Team working the floor. All in all, it was one of our best pizza evenings - at least in America. There were no real downsides, other maybe than a lot of really little kids. I suspect that was our timing early in what would be a late evening for a lot of families going to First Night. Have fun, this is a great place for authentic southern Italian pizza.

I love, love, love this place. My wife and I have taken several trips to Italy and our favorite food is always the little pizza shops. Unfortunately the pizza in the US is great but just not the same. In fact Italian neopolitan pizza isn't for everyone. It isn't as robust as most American pizzas and may seem a little "watered down". For me that is what makes all if the fresh ingredients and chewie crust stand out. Setabello really hits the mark.

As an Italian, it is exceedingly difficult to find authentic restaurants. It is hard to describe the elation I felt as I was served an oblong masterpiece (the Diavola) from Settebello, as opposed to the perfect circle that harbingers something American. Finally, eureka! But allow me to backtrack. One would never think to find a genuine Italian restaurant in the middle of Utah, but I was forced to rethink my assumption as I entered Settebello. Our server, Mikkel, was polite and helpful, and led us to sit in viewing distance of their magnificent wood-burning furnace, a good omen. He also allowed us to cut the pizzas ourselves. We ordered a Margherita and Diavola, and did not have to wait too long for their arrival. The pizzas were sublime, and more importantly, straight from Naples. To the purist, Italian, or just anyone seeking a delicious and authentic pizza, I recommend Settebello.

Picture it... two tired travelers on a road trip back home from South Dakota to California. After a 10-hour drive with two dogs (adorable Boston Terriers) we are tired and hungry. We just want some nourishment and to go to bed before driving another 10 hours to get back home. We happen upon Settebello... We order two Insalata Grande and a Settebello Pizza and for the next hour I am very happy...the kind of happy that comes from eating really good food. The salad... fresh greens, artichokes, mushrooms, olives, shaved Parmesan, and balsamic vinaigrette. PERFECTION. The pizza... pancetta, tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted pine nuts, sausage, olive oil, and mozzarella ... More Perfection. We got there at about 8:30 on a Sunday evening, not realizing they close at 9:00. Even so, the wait staff was delightful. We weren't rushed...never got the impression they wanted us to hurry up and get out of there. The atmosphere was lovely. Bravo Settebello!!

Nothing comes close to the divine simplicity of the Pizza Margherita from Settebello. The crushed San Marzano tomatoes and the 00 flour are from Napoli. Top it off with fresh mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, oilve oil and basil and you have one primo pizza made with truly primo ingredients. The Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) is a 'Pizza Discipline' dedicated to the preservation of 'real Neapolitan pizza'. This requires only specific raw ingredients for the dough, that the dough be worked with the hands, never using a rolling pin, and it must be cooked directly on the surface of a bell shaped pizza oven fueled solely by wood. Also, specific types of tomatoes and fresh milk or buffalo milk mozzarella is required. It is OK if you break out the knife and fork with this pizza, that is how they do it in Napoli. This pizza is considered "wet" by American standards and you will find it soft and foldable. Blackened char spots on the pizza crust is proof it was cooked in a blistering hot, wood burning oven. This is no ordinary oven either. It is handmade by artisan oven makers in Napoli. The floor of the oven is made with "Biscotto di Sorrento" and each brick is hand pressed in Salerno. The mortar holding the bricks together is made with volcanic sand from Mt. Vesuvius. This oven can cook a pizza in about one minute reaching temperatures of around 1000 degrees. Each pizza is an individual work of art. Bellisimo!

I love this place so much. It was the first restaurant I visited when I moved to Salt Lake City and its really unfair to others because they set the bar so high... I'll start with service. I'm usually seated pretty quickly and I find that the servers are always quick and attentive. The food is delicious. My go to is the Margherita pizza, to which I add prosciutto. Keeping it simple, I find its better in order to appreciate the fresh cheese and sauce. Not the typical $2 slice... pizzas are very thin crust, Neapolitan style. I can eat half or sometimes more in one sitting. I don't think this is a good place to share one, unless you're not very hungry. They also have an AMAZING dessert pizza with Nutella, banana, and strawberries. Leave yourself some room, this pizza is so worth it. What a gem in Salt Lake City, we are lucky to have this place.

Best Pizza in the Rockies! Pure Italian goodness. The fried egg in the middle of the pizza added so much richness to the pie. Amazing. If in SLC, this is a must go place! Try the Gelato after! Brilliant!

Another hotel guest recommended this restaurant as well as the concierge at the hotel we were staying at for a business meeting. So I was looking forward to this restaurant but definitely disappointed in the pizza more so then the service. I came here in between lunch and dinner so the restaurant was almost empty. A lot people standing around and probably a shift change as well. However, the pizza is what I came for and I ordered the setebello pizza which was soggy in the middle and lacked any real flavor in the sauce or sausage. In fact I was so disappointed that it was one of my least favorite thin crust pizzas that I've ever had.

Best Napoletana Pizza I've ever had. I've been back multiple times and absolutely love it. I used to go to pizza restaurants and order the meaty or spicy pizzas--but Settebello converted me to the Margherita. What to get: The Margherita and the hot chili oil. Can't go wrong with their appetizers either. Stop by their gelato counter too. Protip: Parking in the back is limited, but it's free. Their Margherita is thin and light with the most incredible sauce. The mozzarella, when mixed with the sauce and oil, creates this extra juiciness to the pizza. Settebello also has chili oil (looks similar to olive oil but comes in a dark amber-red) that ads a very nice flavor and heat to your pizza. I highly recommend it if you like a light kick to your food. Why is their pizza the best I've ever had? I think it's because they import a LOT of their core ingredients from Italy (See their website under About Us to find out which ones). They also are part of the Vera Pizza Napoletana Charter which is a group of pizza makers who stick to the traditional and pure way of making Napoletana pizza--and it's totally worth it. From their website: "The VPN charter requires that members use only specific raw ingredients to create the pizza dough, that the dough be worked with the hands, never using a rolling pin and that it be cooked directly on the surface of a bell shaped pizza oven that is fueled solely by wood. The charter also requires specific types of tomatoes be used and only the use of fresh milk or buffalo milk mozzarella is acceptable."

From having lived in Italy for ten years I can say with authority that this is authentic Italian pizza! The wine list is wide enough to cover any taste and the non-pizza menu selections are interesting to make this a lunch or dinner choice no matter what your palette is asking for. I had the tiramisu for dessert and it capped off a wonderful evening alone.

Absolutely delicious every time! I have been to the downtown location as well as the Farmington location. The pizzas are consistently mind-blowing (the idea of ever eating at a pizza hut or dominoes again is difficult to comprehend at this point)! I love the traditional thin crust dough cooked in the traditional wood-burning oven. I also enjoy their salads and find the whole experience to be very authentic in the old-world style. Even their parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers seem from a different planet. My partner and I like to share a pizza and a salad or appetizer, although my 13 year old son had no trouble downing a whole pizza on his own.

Why am i writing this review? I feel all people deserve to know what they are getting into before they eat at a place. Obviously my american ways led me to believe that pizzeria meant... I am gonna be getting BBQ chicken. False. Very false. This is straight up trying to be italian... they even have gelato!! And when I say gelato i mean ice cream because lets be honest... it wasn't that great. But it was inexpensive thats how you know its not real gelato. I guess maybe i should talk about the pizza not just the gelato. But i wanna talk about the gelato!! Well the pizza I think is trying to be authentic italian too... if you can't tell yet... I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ITALY SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS REALLY LIKE!! But there isn't sauce on the pizza, but they got tomatoes and stuff. I am really happy with the pizza I got it was delicious and didn't scare me like all of the other pizzas. I suggest not getting a salad... they are super intense, I am happy that it put me outside of my food comfort zone and raped my taste buds. Yes... kind of unwanted tastes but I had to because I dropped like 8 bucks on the salad. THE VERDICT: Do you feel like a rich person? You should go here. Do you like trying new things? you should probably go here. Do you like dogs more than cats? that makes you an american so you shouldn't go. Do you like me? Well you made it to the end so i assume you do. With love my peeps.

Great pizza joint in the area and the service was great! We got the Margherita with red bell peppers and red onions. It tasted great! The crust was crispy and the pizza was thin which was easier to eat more of. Focaccia bread for appetizer was pretty good, make sure you dip the bread in some Balsamic and Olive Oil for an even better flavor!

This place is definitely worth a try, my friends and I ended up here by accident as the place we were originally going to go had a crazy long wait but in the future we'll definitely come here as a first choice. There were six of us and the wait time was only about 10 minutes which is basically witchcraft so that's definitely a point in it's favor and the service was great, fast and courteous, I didn't feel at all like they were either hovering or unavailable and our waitress was able to recommend wines that went great with our food selections. The pizzas are about 10 inches so we ended up getting 3 different pizzas to share; the ingredients are very high quality and you can definitely tell - not a single person in our group had anything negative to say at all. One of the pizzas (I forget which one it was now) was a bit too spicy for my taste but still very good so it's not a strike at all. They have an extensive wine and beer list which is always worth mentioning here in Utah, and I was very pleased with the selection.

Good pizza in Salt Lake City? Who would've guessed? But Settebello serves up outstanding, authentic thin-crust pies, with great service in a hip, family-friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed the spicy Diavola with a crisp side salad and a terrific beer from their wide selection of local taps. Each personal pizza is large enough for one, with a couple of slices to spare. But be sure to save room for Settebello's delicious gelato -- conveniently served up right next door. This is one fantastic pizza place, and will be on my list whenever I pay a visit to Salt Lake City.

Love this place! Great pizza and gelato. This is a perfect place to come on a date or with a small group. Love the hustle and bustle at this place and you can see their pizza oven right when you walk in. Get there early as this place tends to have a wait for good reason.

Excellent pizza, great sides, and a Gelateria next door, this place is worth visiting. This is better than the Pasadena location, since they offer gelato and better beer choices, but it is pretty much the same menu. We enjoyed the Involtini di Prosciutto which is wrapped around goat cheese and arugula (highly recommend), and the classic Margherita DOC (the crust is fantastic - chewy and perfect). Save room for gelato and you are all set. I will be back

Seriously... I can't get enough! I could eat the Margherita Pizza at least once a week and not be over it at all! It is superb. The right amount of cheese and one of my favorite things there- the spicy oil!! Drizzle some of that on your pizza and well I feel like it is combination straight from culinary heaven. For an appetizer I like the Involtini di Prosciutto, it has a great balsamic reduction that ties it all together. Overall great place with authentic Pizza. Go and Enjoy!

The pizza crust was soggy and the toppings were very skimpy. Also the pancetta turned out to be undercooked bacon and not very tasty. A big disappointment, especially considering the good reviews. Won't return!

Let me get some housekeeping out of the way before my official review.... arrive before 5:30 and you should be fine getting a table, arrive between 5:45-7:00... expect to wait. This is an easy walk from downtown and parking is mostly street only, so if you can swing it, just walk. I recently vowed to myself to longer try "Gourmet Pizza Places" when I was in the mood for pizza. The reason being: if I'm craving pizza, then just about any run of the mill pizza (FOR ME PERSONALLY) will do -Pizza Hut, Domino's, even Little Caesars when ordered fresh. Let me further explain, I love pizza... don't get me wrong... but, when I've got pizza on the brain, I repeat, I don't feel the need for some fancy pizza... I just want to be really clear about this because I made a VOW, a vow I tell you! that I was over trying fancy pizza places! Enter: Settebello. World- shaken. We went, and I ordered the caprese salad. My mom ordered the Settebello Pizza and my husband ordered some meaty pizza that I didn't try. I was totally pleased with my salad. Huge, red tomato slices, beautiful leaves of basil, balsamic vinegar that could make you weep.... and then, just for fun, I had a bite of my mom's pizza (sans meat). The skies opened and heavenly angels began sprinkling their heavenly pizza angel dust all around us. Guys, this pizza is GOOD STUFF. The crust, the cheese, the perfect roasted pine nuts... I still won't go out of my way to try any gourmet pizza places, but for a completely different reason now. It's because I've got this baby tucked away in my arsenal for the times when I need it. There is no need to look any further. Thank you, Settebello, for helping me see the error of my ways in scorning gourmet pizza. I was wrong. Please forgive me. P.S. I'm pretty sure our waiter was the owner and he had amazing insight about ingredients, preparation technique, and how to make the most of our pizza experience (hint: use the oil and vinegar on EVERYTHING). We will most definitely return!

I love a good pizza, and a great pizza is one of my favorite things in life. The Settebello Margherita DOC had all the makings of a great pizza. Flour imported from Napoli, hot and well tended wood-fired brick oven and a deft handed pizzaiolo, San Marzano's cooked on the pie, fresh cut leaves of basil, and a fresh buffalo mozzarella. Its that last one that did them in. My pie, though cooked well, with the requisite crisp bits of crust and spots of char, came out wet. There's just too much moisture in fresh cheese for this pizza. It comes out of solution when cooked, and settles in wet puddles on the slice. The fresh flavors and fine ingredients just couldn't save what turned into a soggy mess. I'd go again, if in town, and try another selection. The Diavola with the artisan Finnochiona Salame sounds quite good to me. VPN certifications aside, the Margherita DOC was a disappointment.

From here to Italy I have found only one pizza place that is this authentic. They pride themselves on imported ingredients that make their pizzas truly authentic Neapolitan. Their ovens bake these heavenly pizzas within a couple of minutes to bubbly perfection. It's a family favorite and a great spot for a date.

This is some fancy schmancy pizza that I feel I am neither classy nor sophisticated enough to partake of. But I did anyways. That's right. I shattered these bourgeoisie walls within my own mind regarding this pizza and savored every minute. Another victory for the 99%. My friends and I happened upon this place sort of on accident. We were originally planning to hit up the ol' Red Rock Brewing Co, but they had AN HOUR AND A HALF WAIT TIME, so we were like "nah bro", and went next door to fancy ass Settebello and experienced a 5 minute wait and way better quality of food and service. The pizzas are large, so in my party of 6, we all shared 3. I had a particular fondness to to the Vico pizza, which featured sausage, marscapone cheese, onions and other delicious stuff. This was a "non-crushed tomato" pizza. IT WAS SO DELIGHTFUL. It was light, the crust was super flavorful, and the flavors of all the toppings married together in my mouth better than Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt. The service was delightful. Waitresses were adequately prompt and friendly, but not over-bearing or intrusive. Thanks waitresses. I like that about you. I ordered a moscato to drink with my fancy pizza. Go ahead. Judge me. I ordered a fruity wine to have with pizza. I'll just sit here and wait for your judgement to pass. I recognize I am the worst wine pairer in the world, and I refuse to apologize for it. IT WAS DELICIOUS AND I LOVED IT. This place is really great. The ambience was casual, but still a little classy. I'm not talking dress code classy, but it just felt mature and sophisticated and I appreciate that. Please go here. Please try it. Even get whatever wine you want to pair it with and DON'T LET ANYONE JUDGE YOU FOR HAVING SOME HAPPINESS.

Delicious and authentic. If you like a good thin crust pizza, this is the place! I am not a fan of deep dish, and I love thin crust, and this place is great! My friend and I split the Romana pizza tonight, and it was perfect. Full cherry tomatoes, huge chunks of artichoke, and the cheeses were perfect. I am not a pork eater, so I decided to forego the meat on my half, but my friend said the prosciutto crudo was perfect. We got gelato afterwards and it was great! I had the tiramisu, which was my favorite flavor, as well as the stracciatella, which was good, but I like the stracciatella at Gloria's Little Italy in Provo better.

I have never had pizza so delicious in my life, and they've ruined almost every other kind of pizza for me. Started with the Caprese salad, the meatball appetizer, and another large salad (called "Insalata Grande"). Everything was amazing. It didn't seem the meal could get better, and then the pizzas arrived. The flavor combinations were perfect, the crust--while thin--was still flavorful and just the right balance of chewy and crispy. We had the Carbonara and Diavola, and a "kid-sized" Quattro Formagi, which ended up the same size as the others anyway. Everything was beautiful. You should stop by if you're anywhere in Salt Lake valley. There is no better pizza.

Legit Italian gelato Next to the delicious pizzeria is a connected gelato store. Awesome delicious gelato. 24 flavored of freshly made gelato. Tables and benches for sitting. Have some gelato with your pizza.

We did lunch here. Service was friendly, and the ambiance was nice. We split the settebello pizza-- which was filling-- but I didn't love the combination of the pine nuts, sausage, and pancetta. The flavors seemed to be competing rather than complimenting. Anyway the base of the pizza was great; the crust is perfect and the sauce and mozzarella were #1. If you are all about authentic Italian food then this is the place for you. If you aren't, it's still good.

I've been here a few times, and just ordered a salad since I'm gluten free. Last time I was in town, I was happily surprised that they added a gluten free crust to their menu! Let me just tell you right this minute that it's been weeks since we've been there and I am dreaming about it every second of every day. Literally THE BEST gluten free pizza I've ever had. So much for that diet.... But seriously, every calorie was worth it and I'd eat it again for every meal. Every day. The end.

I've been here a few times and enjoyed the experience. However, this most recent visit was a little different because the pizza had a soggy crust for the first time. The Bianca is one of my favorite pizzas, and it was just a slight let down for the crust to be so wet this time. I still look forward to my next visit because it is normally do enjoyable.

Authentic Italian flavors and an easy friendly service. I would recommend Setebello for lunch to anyone who is looking for a great pizza in Utah that has some authentic Italian flavor profiles. We had shared a few of the different pizzas at the table. The Setebello, Diavola, and Margherita DOC all had very unique and interesting taste. Service was great, even during the Outdoor Retailers Conference happening at the Salt Palace. Definitely coming back.

I don't leave in SLC, but I this is my second time visiting Settebello and I love their pizza. Remind me on my stay in Napoli and how good pizza can be. This time I had Umbria and live it. Service was good and fat. The only remarks, to my taste indoor place is to dark. I prefer more light

A fellow flight attendant urged me to go with her, and 3 of us went. We shared each others dishes and WOW. Everything was excellent! I never knew true love until I tried the misto appetizer. Now I'm head over heels. It's all I could ask for- the perfect combo of Italian cures meats, delicious cheeses and wood oven baked foccacia. And just when I thought I could never love another, they brought me my pizza. How will I ever eat another pizza that compares? I'm ruined now for all other pizzas out there, and it's all settebello's fault. But I can't really blame them.

We started with an appetizer. It was like prosciutto wrapped around asparagus. It was very very very salty. Not just prosciutto salty but SALTY. I drank water for the next 60 min that we had to wait for our entree. Yes it took them that long because I had to add another hour to my car parking meter. I mean I know the pizza are made with love and cooked individually but that was a long time to wait . An hour ? Really ? I've been here before and the pizza were toasted with slight burnt spot but this time, despite its beautiful look from the top , the bottom of the pizza had large burnt spot . We just scraped the bottom and dealt with it because we really didn't wanna wait another hour . I swear they must have been under staffed that day or something . We barely saw our waiter . I had to order appetizer and dessert from waiters that walked by because they didn't pay attention to us at all . They noticed that we have been waiting for the food but they sorta ignored that since we didn't complain. Trust me , my look expressed the fact I was unhappy but they just ignored me. Maybe it's because I look like a kid though Im in college. (sorry for the wait would've been nice ) Oh we finished with the tiramisu . I practically ignored my whole experience after that . It was a delicious tiramisu with the right kick of espresso . I'll come back if I have time to wait an hour for my food and I'll be requesting my pizza to not be burnt . I'll definitely get the tiramisu .

Had dinner with my coworker and there was no wait when we entered. I was very pleased and we had started with pancetta crostini. The flavors married well together with a side of pesto. After we devoured the crostini we each ordered a pizza. I opted for the spicy diavola and he ordered the carbonara. First of all the taste factor was a 9 out of 10. There was a festival of flavors partying in my mouth. The crust, dough, and the ratio of cheese was on target. I mean it was cooked in a brick oven, so you can't get better then that. Well I only gave 4 stars since the waitress did not ask us how the food was after it was served within 5 minutes, water was not refilled and only supplied us with one napkin for the entire meal. Other then that, best pizza I have had in a long time.!!!!

A tip from a friend who lives in Park City sent us to Settebello - and are we glad we did! Our UMBRIA pizza was fantastic - roasted tomato rounds set on top of an excellent thin crust, with the perfect amount of "char" from the pizza oven across the room. The Insalata Grande was a great way to start - and large enough to share. We shared the pizza too, but next time, I think I'd want one all to myself!

I'm a Chicago transplant and have had a lot of the pizza they are famous for. However, this pizza is totally different and totally awesome! From what I hear, it's what pizza in Italy is like. Started off with the Caprese and it was enough for the two of us. We had the Margherita and Setebello pizzas with the pine nuts. Yes, it worked well! In my search for good pizza in SLC, we have finally found it! After dinner, we got a couple of gelatos next door. A perfect date ... bomb!

Great pizza. Obviously a very different style of pizza than say The Pie or somewhere like that, so if you're into thick and chewy crusts, this isn't for you. Luckily for me, I love thin crust. (Actually I love any pizza. Just give it to me.) I bug my husband because the only pizza I ever order is margherita. Honestly, nothing beats the olive oil, fresh basil, and mozzarella. Get the focaccia. This is real focaccia. So delicious. My husband had the shrimp pizza (can't remember the name). He liked it, but it had a bit too much pesto for his liking. But, he said he liked it overall. The margherita pizza is the best I've had in Utah, which is a big feat because we are on freaking Utah. I'm used to my pizza made in little Italy in Boston. So, this stuff reminded me of home. Also, good amount of food for the price. Definitely will go back again for my margherita fix!

Great tasting food, service eh, loud ambiance! When a chair is pulled out from any table it sounds like a screeching dinosaur. Not a place for romantic dinner or quaint conversation. But if you just got out of church and have three babies and a grandma who wishes to echo their cries across the room it's perfect. How bout some tapestry on the walls to cut the echo chamber; some rubber on the chair legs; softer music? Last butthole not least we had to cut our own pizza. The dullard of a waitress never asked "how was everything," just, "are you ready to pay?" No tip for her but if you're reading this, go next door to Red Rock and have both great food AND service!

Kind and nice service. Excellent pizza and Tiramisu! All was very fresh. It's recommanded to Make a reservation. Great gellati next to the Resto

The pizza was good, would have been better if the crust wasn't burnt to a crisp! The service was nothing to be happy with, our waitress even though nice didn't bother to check on us. She did come by after we were done to give us refills. And she took a good amount of time coming back for the check.

By far best pizza in Utah. Sicilian style pizza. Excellent hot delicate pizza with wonderful combo of toppings. Great ambiance. Good for dates or for a family dinner.

Ambiance, good. Service, good. Pizza not so good! My brother and I went here while vacationing in SLC. We hit it on a quite, snowy night. Being from Chicago, we like our pizza. We had the Vico and Settebello. The crust was so thin and soggy that you couldn't pick up a slice to eat without the ingredients just falling off. Tried to eat with a knife and fork and it turned into pizza mush.

We stopped in late to have a canoli and espressos. The canoli was like homemade (and homemade canoli take some work) and the espressos were rich and flavorful. We're going back another night to sit at the counter and watch them make our pizza in their stone oven. They looked so good! Our server was lovely. Prices were great.

Love, love this place...glad I happened to see it on my way to The Red Iguana... I enjoyed sitting at the Pizza Bar and was quite entertained with the employees showing off their pizzeria skills. My entire meal was yummy: +Glass of Terredora Greco Di Tufo - Greco DOCG (Montefusco, Italy) Pale-medium gold reflections with a rich and powerfully aromatic nose of apricot, apple, peach and citrus fruits. On the palate it is full bodied, soft and well balanced with excellent acidity. It improves with age. +Insalata - Mixed Greens, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Cracked Pepper, Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano +Vico (No Crushed Tomatoes) - Wood Oven Sausage, Sauteed Fennel, Red Onions, Mascarpone, Mozzarella, Basil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil This will definitely be one of the restaurants I visit when and if I return to Salt Lake City.

The pizza we got was good, maybe not quite as good a Terra Mia in Orem but still good. The gelato was OK, not great. Probably had more to do with the flavor I got than anything, but it was the guy working there who gave me the flavor recommendation. We will probably go back but not wowed by the place.

Classic neopolitan pizzas. Generously topped. Fairlly cheap. Fast and super friendly service. I loved the tiramisu too. Can't go wrong, you have to stop by!

**Ask for the salted caramel gelato, maybe they will bring it back.** We're here quite often. I LOVE everything about this place. The atmosphere is fun and casual. The food is amazing! If you've ever had pizza in Naples, close your eyes, take a bite and you'll be right back in Italy. The Diavola is my favorite, of course, but the carbonara, Setebello and Margarita are good as well. The service is always top notch and the wait is only crazy when there is a big event downtown. Normally you can get in and out pretty quickly. Leave room for gelato or test the fruit/nutella dessert pizza. YUM!

  • Mikki L.

For appetizers we ordered the caprese and the red pepper crostini. Both delicious! For an entree we ordered the carbonara pizza. It was pretty good, but I couldn't really taste the egg, which was why I got it. The dough got a bit soggy after a few slices, but we still ate it all :) For dessert we got the Nutella pizza. It was the bomb dot com, holy cow! And to top it all off, I had a glass of moscato which was sooo good... But kind of disappointing when I saw how little you get for the price. All in all the ambiance was nice and so was our server. He didn't seem too happy but he got the job done. I will definitely be back for their Nutella pizza! :p

Very good pizza with top-quality vegetables and cheeses. (Probably meats, too, but I didn't get one of those.) I loved the crust edges -- bubbly and blackened to perfection. The bottom of the pizza did get quite soggy, even on the first slice. Service not particularly professional. Friendly enough! Don't get me wrong there. But, you are very much aware that you are being served by likely-college-students-needing-a-job than folks who are choosing to be servers.

I normally don't reference other reviews, but I must say that i am shocked that Settebello has even a few negative ones. If you're looking for pizza in Salt Lake City, you really can't do better than this place. What Settebello does is very simple, delicious Neopolitan style pizzas, interesting and fresh salads and tasty desserts, among a few other menu items. We have tried a number of items on the menu, including most recently the margherita pizza, roasted beet salad and prosciutto involtini. All of these are worth ordering, especially the beet salad. Imagine the flavors of arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese and roasted pistachio nuts, together in one tasty bite. Really fantastic. And if you are considering ordering a pizza here and can't decide which one, no worries, they are all excellent. Nothing is better than wood-fired thin crust pizza. If downtown SLC is your destination, and you want quality pizza, you have to consider Settebello. The only other pizza that compares is Vinto, but I think Settebello tops Vinto with their pizza offerings (Vinto wins for desserts).

This was really good. I came here on a interview for a job. I was too nervous to enjoy Settebello fully. Everyone was really friendly and the food came out in a jiff. I loved the crust. Next time I go I will see if they can throw more toppings on there.

Fantastically crafted and a wonderful experience in all. On a Sunday it was almost empty but that didn't take away from the excellent pizza. Oh and the meatballs!! OMG! The meatballs served with flatbread are delicious! Order it!

Visiting family in Salt Lake City. Decided to go for lunch after playing tourist at the Mormon Temple. Found this pizza place on Yelp. Ordered Focaccia and bone marrow appetizer + Bianca pizza. Focaccia and bone marrow are excellent. Pizza was a bit soggy but still tasty.

Pizza is great. Appetizers not so much. We had a party of three and ordered the bruschetta for $9. When it came out we had two toasts covered in tomatoes. Very awkward for three. We wished the sever would have told us.

Great authentic Italian pizza. I was informed that they brought over a wood burning oven from Italy to bake their pizza. The price matches the quality. The service was pretty good. The portion size was perfect.

Very good, authentic, Italian (Naples) style pizza. Slightly chewy, doughy texture with a burnt spot or two. Perfect for folding! My husband and I shared the diavola pizza, which is like a spicy version of pepperoni. This was delicious, and was pretty close to the pizza we had eaten in Italy a couple years ago. Ingredients all tasted fresh. We also had the bruschetta with pancetta. What a genius addition to the classic appetizer! It was so good! Service was ok, our server seemed a little distracted, but she wasn't unpleasant. They had some classic Italian desserts on the menu, but we chose to walk next door to Capo Gelateria to finish off our Italian themed night. The pizza is great, would definitely return if we lived in the area.

This place is amazing. There's really nothing more to be said, but I will try. Great Pizza Napoletana. There isn't a single type that isn't delicious. Go for the Settebello, you will not be disappointed. Service is always exceptionally fast, which is great as at peak time this place is packed! You should never leave this place without getting the gelato, which comes from the space next door; Capo. I recommend the NUTELLA GELATO. If only there was a place like this in Austin...

  • Dave K.

Tried this place on a random trip to salt lake city, very glad I did. The pizza is amazing. Ive had a lot of good pizzas on trips to new york, italy (naples) etc. This is a true napolian pizza. Pizza is cooked in a wood or coal brick oven (didnt notice what they used) and had the perfect char on the crust. Be sure to order a pizza that has buffalo mozzerella on it, its a couple dollars more but thats what they use in naples and thats the good stuff. If I had to critique anything, maybe their oven isn't quite hot enough as the cheese had just started to melt and usually it should be completely gooey. But thats nit picking. Sauce is great too. Id rank this behind only a handful of places and I am sure its the best in salt lake. Other notes: Nice service, good prices, and a gelato shop next door.

I am surprised that I did not review this place a long time ago. I have been to this establishment many many times since it opened in Salt Lake City. Definitely on my fav list! First off, the ambiance is relaxing, not too bright, not too dark, however, the chairs aren't comfortable enough to sit for hours and chat, but overall, the atmosphere is inviting enough. I especially love it in the winter when you can look outside the window with the lights and if it is snowing too, the view is quite breathtaking. The food here is spectacular. The pizza is cooked in a wood fired oven and is usually cooked with a bit of a crispy thin crust. Now, keep in mind that this is supposed to be authentic Italian pizza, so sometimes you have to request it to be cut/sliced. I usually order the Diavola and I have them add pancheta. That particular pizza has some spice to it and I think it is one of the most flavorful pizzas that they make. You can also drizzle on a tasty and spicy oil that is made from a red pepper. That definitely adds to the spice. Their salads are made with fresh ingredients and always taste very fresh. To end the meal, I highly recommend the gelato! Almost all of the flavors are delicious and the taste and smoothness really pops. Much better than many ice creams you buy in the store. If you have never been here, are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a different kind of pizza, definitely give this place a shot. (especially if your idea of pizza is The PIE)

Pretty good, but the first photo on Yelp on my phone was of pasta. Jonesing for pasta on my way back from Kansas City, get there, no pasta... had to settle for their awesome namesake pizza: The Settebello.

This restaurant is located in the center of a row of nice restaurants. We ordered the warm beet salad and the Umbria pizza. The beet salad was served in a cast iron dish on a wooden plank and the beets were delicious--slightly sweet. The salad included pistachio nuts and soft cheese and was topped with micro greens. The pizza was fired in a brick oven next to our table. The crust was thin in the middle with a nicely raised crusty rim. Perfect size for two! The Pizza was topped with mozzarella cheese balls, roasted garlic, corn, basil leaves, and slices of Roma tomato drenched in balsamic. After dinner, the two of us went next door for some excellent gelato.

Love Settebello and Dine O round down town. $10 for my favorite pizza and salad. It's perfectly cooked and amazing olive oil.

  • Fun T.

Settebello was pretty good, but a few things could be improved. I can't believe the pizza took a whole 2 min from when I ordered to being delivered to my table. I liked the chewiness of the crust, but didn't like that it got so soggy after the first couple of slices. I think they need to experiment with the dough mixture a bit. Maybe mixing in some other flour with the 00 flour, cooking it at a slightly lower temperature for longer, or using crushed tomatoes that have less liquid.

Pizza was okay, nothing special. Service was slow and drinks weren't refilled. On top of all that, after getting home and comparing receipts to credit card statements - found an extra $10 added onto a overly generous 18% tip. I would never go back due to an incredibly dishonest and useless server.

I don't know if my review can even do this place justice. Originally I had heard about this little pizzeria in Utah that I just had to go to because they got their oven imported from italy and it made the crust just right. It really does make a difference. The crust here is like a thinner naan bread (with that super delicious char flavor & texture) but it is just exactly what I want in a pizza dough. I can't remember the name of the pizza we got but it tasted like breakfast and had an egg which is obviously just a genius move. The other pizza we got had proscuitto and mushrooms and it was also delicious.

I come here just for the Diavola pizza! So delicious! And there's a gelato place next door that has "to die for' gelatos! Great authentic Italian pizza. I lived in Italy for two years and this is one place that reminds me a lot of Italy.

Food- 4 stars Service- 3.5 Wait time for food- 4 stars This place is amazing, I'm not sure how anyone could give it a negative review. If you are visiting or living in Salt Lake, this is restaurant is a MUST. I've tried about 5 different pizzas there and each one has been delicious. The crust is perfectly cooked and the toppings are always fresh and flavorful. Come here until you've tried all the pizzas... then try them all again.

This is my all time favorite spot in SLC. My wife and I have been at least a dozen times and they're batting 1000. Everything I've ever gotten is great. My wife is partial to anything they have that has calimata olives and after trying almost everything on the menu I have settled on the Carbonara as my favorite

Really a let down. Went yesterday for lunch and the place was empty. Upon looking around everything was pretty dirty. The floor was unswept, the tables were sticky, and the condiment holders on the tables were filthy. Everything on the menu sounded really good so we settled on the pomodora (spelling ??) salad, the white pizza, and the settebello pizza. Our salad came out first and was really good- needed balsamic on the greens which I think they forgot. The crust on the pizzas was weird. Like, pancakey. And the toppings just didn't meld together like I wanted them to. I guess ill keep looking for a new pizza place to frequent in SLC.

Wow! I'm dumbfounded by the attitude our server had today. It seemed like it was an inconvenience to help any of the diners there. Before I ordered I told her we needed separate checks and she said ok. When the bill came it wasn't split. She rolled her eyes when we asked again for it to be split. The owners needs to be aware of this. I can't imagine people go back a second time.

I LOVE this place. Nothing particularly special about the staff or even the setting, but the pizza is off-this-planet awesome. I just stick with the simple margarita pizza, though my husband gets the fancier pizzas and really likes them. I try to go whenever I am in downtown Salt Lake.

They say that ignorance is bliss, and I have to agree. After having "the best" it's hard to not be overly critical of anywhere else I eat. The ovens here are made using Volcanic rock from Naples region and their Margherita DOC is supposed to be original. The taste is there, but the crust is just cooked too long...real Naponese pizza needs to be eaten with a fork and knife, you shouldn't be able to pick it up. I attribute this to the oven cooking at 800-900 deg, meaning your pizza is cooking all the way through instead of charing the outside crust fast enough. If i wasn't set up with the expectation of a DOC experience, I'd have given a 4 star rating. Te flavor is there with the sauce, and despite the altitude, they have nailed the flavor on the crust. The cheese is supposed to be buffalo mozzarella but I'm not buying it, the texture was the same as the low moisture Sorrento plastic wrapped crap you buy at the grocery store when your mom is making lasagne. On my pie, i expect it to be melted and gooey with a bit of moisutre around it mixing with the fresh sauce. They have the "VPN" designation, but I don't trust it...just ignore that and come in for a "better" pizza experience The menu has several options with some great flavor combinations. We sampled 7 different pies on our first trip. Due to the cheese, i wouldn't order the DOC again but I would go back for the Carbonara, Diavola and the Settebello. Pricing may be high for the area (based on other reviews), but as far as shops with these ovens go, it's a little on the cheap side compared to the rest of the country. With food costs, a typical DOC pie should go for $15-$20. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, even offering us a tour of the ovens. Great wine selection with very reasonable prices.

We took my brother in law here because he was claiming that no pizza in the states is the same as the pizza in Rome. He likes American pizza, but said that he couldn't find any here like the Italian version. He was skeptical when we told him about settebello. We had the diavolo, settebello, and margherita pizzas and beet salad and insalata grande. Everything was fantastic. Brother in law was surprised because "this is pretty much exactly what the pizza in Rome is like." If you want mountains of meat and rivers of cheese check out the pie. If you want a new pizza experience this is the place. Settebello does exactly what they claim to do and they do it well.

Gelato place next door is good. I had the experience from a few other yelpers, the pizza was burnt. The server and service was great. The amber beer was very good. My suggestion if you are coming here for a classic pizza this is NOT for you. 13 a pie 12 inches it was OK. I would not come again, I was attending a convention. A trendy feel but food might need some work, burnt dough does not work at anytime.

  • Adam R.

I've had both lunch and dinner here and I love the pizza. My recommendations: -the Settebello -but change out the panchetta for prosciutto, but that's just my personal preference. -Diavola - if you like spicy (hot) food this one is for you, nice kick but not overwhelming. -Capricciosa The service has been great and friendly both times I've eaten here, but that's just par for the course in Salt Lake.

  • Jason P.

Absolutely amazing every time I go. I've been going here for 5 years. I lived in Naples Italy for 5 years as well and Settebello's is the real deal stateside. I'm a caprese, focaccia, margherita, and pizza diavola fan. My wife gets the capricciosa. Every opportunity we have we go back. The gelateria that is attached is the best as well. Great dinner and dessert every time.

this is the best pizza restaurant i've ever been so far, if you prefer traditional ones from the chain, this may not be your place. their pizzas are all very unique and tasty, haven't had a bad one yet. the ice cream place next door is definitely a must-go dessert.

Excellent! If I could give 4.9999 stars I would have. (5 stars should mean the best meal you've ever had). First trip to Salt Lake (business), made this my first stop after leaving the airport. Very nice waitress took my order, house salad, margarita pizza and an IPA from one of the local breweries. The salad came quickly and had two huge slices of fresh parm on top, it was delish. About 5 minutes after the salad the the pizza arrived. Perfect size, excellent thin crispy crust with the right amount of cheese and FRESH to tomato sauce, not the typical overly sweet pizza sauce you find at 95% of pizza places. Setebello uses a wood fire oven to make their pizza which means you get something unlike anything the delivery pizza we're all used to. This is how pizza should taste. Just a side note its rare for me to post a review... But given how much I enjoyed Settebello, I had to.

As an Italian, I have been spoiled by some of the homeland's best pizzerie and therefore rarely take friends up on offers to meet at the local pizza joint. But Settebello is the real deal. They craft the BEST pizza I have ever had this side of the Atlantic and have quickly become my favorite SLC restaurant. Settebello follows Italy's rules to perfection and nails it with a simple but solid character. What I love most about Settebello is their simplicity, consistency, and crust. Everything from the classic wood burning ovens to the straight-forward menu feels like Napoli. Whether I visit or order take-out, the food is served promptly; most take-out orders are waiting for me before I can walk from my DT apartment. But most important of all: the crust. It's no secret that they use 00 imported flour, but even if others chose to, I doubt they could promise that same fire-kissed crust every time. To start out, get the Involtini di Proscuitto. It breaks my own code to suggest that one order an appetizer salad, but as simple as the ingredients are, I'm not sure I could ever nail their preparation and balance. The balsamic reduction gets even the most stubborn of carnivores. As for the pizzas, my three favorite are the Quattro Formaggi, lo Settebello, and la Diavola. I often find multiple cheese pizzas to be overpowering, but you'll be devouring the sixth slice of their four cheese pizza before you even remember to sip your San Pellegrino. The Settebollo is the obvious protagonist, but is really something special with its roasted pine nuts. And if you like to 'turn up the heat' at all, order the Diavola and ask for their pepper oil. It doesn't have that much of a punch, but is very memorable. The reason I didn't award five stars is because Settebello does have a few shortcomings. For some reason, I always feel too cold in the restaurant while I generally feel like a furnace. The old menu was better and most of the servers are 'hip,' but don't match the restaurant's charm. Lastly, the restaurant needs some original drinks, or at least a more engaging alcohol menu to knock it out of the park. Luckily, the adjacent Coppa gelateria makes up for these quirks and more with their stracciatella and baci flavored gelato.

Best authentic Italian pizza around. Start with the focaccia bread appetizer and ask them to add mozzarella-amazing. Don't forget to dip it in the olive oil and balsamic vinegar! The bruschetta is also fabulous. My favorite pizza is the emilia but there are so many great choices. The tiramisu is awesome but I recommend the gelato, my husband says lemon biscotti all the way but there are many tasty flavors. One of my favorite places to eat!!!

  • Ashby E.

Something has changed...and not for the good. I have LOVED their authentic, thin, fresh-sauced pizza for years. Today....was heartbreaking. The prosciutto was incredibly thick, tough, and not chewable. It used to be feathery and melted in one's mouth. The dough even seems to be short changed. Feeling sad....wishing my old pizza pal was still around. Did it change ownership....and attention to authenticity?

I don't know what the rage is about Italian food, but overpriced pasta is not my forte. 1. Burnt crust 2. Overpriced pizza - had margherita for $10, waste of money. It was so-so at best. 3. Bad service + stupid 18% gratuity for big parties 4. Don't bring big parties 5. We had a cake, waitress couldn't even bring forks for the cake, or a knife, or cut it for us. Dang knows she's already getting a good tip 6. Had some weird sampler thing with 3 kinds of meats, WAYYYYY too salty. When I say salty, I mean like Dead Sea salty 7. Don't come. Bad parking, overpriced food, bad service. I don't even know why I'm giving them 2 stars.

If you love thin crust pizza, this is the place for you! My family and I dropped by after we got off the plane.if was suggested to us by the concierge at our hotel. Her suggestion was way on target! The crust was so thin and crispy, it was amazing! The ingredients tasted so fresh! I've had my share of share of thin crust pizza, especially after living in New Haven for a year.I have to say, this pizza beat all the pizza I ate in New Haven...and I was pretty addicted to Pepe's.their menu is limited, but what they do have, they do well! We had the margherita and Bianca pizza, and we'd couldn't decide which one we liked better. It was also nice too drink a beer that the server said was brewed "right around the corner." Overall, it was definitely a win!

I've been here multiple times for dinner, as I often get lost in Salt Lake City and since I've found this place once and it's close to the hotel I stay at, I keep going back. They're open on Sundays and serve alcohol. The service is good and the food comes out quickly (but then again, I'm usually dining by myself). If you're really hungry, you can get a pizza and eat it by yourself...I got the diavolo, which was quite tasty. The crust was good, and the pizza itself was spicy.

The pizza is fantastic this is the best place in the valley for Neapolitan style pizza. Don't plan on sharing your pizza because it's too good! When your stuffed from the pizza you can go next door and get gelato. Great place for a night or afternoon out!

Settebello always appears to attract divisive reviews. The five stars pretty much sum up which side of the fence I'm on. I'm a huge fan of Settebello's thin and chewy pizzas. Their Margherita is by far, my favorite pie. The Marinara is just as good. I like that they can accommodate requests to remove certain ingredients (no pig meat, please). I've been able to enjoy pizzas such as Capricissio and Carbonara (egg on a pizza? yes, it can work!) Their ingredients such as San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, etc. are really, really good. And the wood-fired taste imparted by baking them in their oven makes my taste buds very happy. And it's not just their pizza, I also like their salads - Insalata and Insalata Grande. I love Settebello.

This is the real stuff. Precisely as I remember the pizza in southern Italy. After talking to the waiter here's what we learned: - flour imported from Italy (00 type and one of the two brands in Italy used by pizzerias there) - San Marzano tomatoes, with no seasoning added. - cheese made locally and always fresh. For some pizzas on the menu they use buffala mozzarella flown in from Italy. Frozen when made, thawed and used immediately. This is now going to be a tradition every time we are in town. Scopa!

Pizza not so good. Gelato was fantastic. The pizzas crusts were very burnt and got soggy quickly. The service was subpar as well. $24 is a lot of money for soggy, burnt, bland pizza, I can make that at home for free! But get their gelato! :)

I love oven baked pizzas but Settebello's just is not my style. I prefer a crispier crust and for the toppings to adhere a bit more to the pizza rather than slide around on top.

Love the pizza and gelato. Good gluten free options. My italian friends approved of the cannolli.

Not worth the hype. Came by on a Sunday afternoon and it was very quiet, maybe one other table of patrons yet our hostess sat us at the one dirty table. Service was incredibly fast, suspiciously fast. The artichoke crostini was decent and it was the saving grace. The pizza was NOT good. We got the Setebello thinking all the toppings would be great but the whole thing was bland. The dough tasted burnt yet it was soggy. There was hardly any cheese which would have been fine but the tomato "sauce" was nothing to write home about. Everything slid off the pizza into a bland mess in the middle. I will keep looking for "authentic" pizza and in the mean time I'll keep to Pizza Hut.

This was really good pizza, I was very satisfied. It brought me back to Italy. I would go back more and more now that I know about it. The pizza is super great. This is very authentic Italian pizza. I would recommend it to any, and the price is not that bad. So go to this place and have a good time with your family and friends. Plus there is great gelato next door in the same building, so you don't even have to go outside. Again its super great food, wish I got a pizza to go after I ate. It was that good. Thanks so much settebello for good Italian pizza. :)

Having lived in Napoli for a year, I can vouch for the authenticity of this place. If your idea of "good" pizza means the typical American fare, you'll be in for a shock. Settebello does it the traditional (read: old world) Napoletan way--thin crust, wood fired, simple pizzas that taste fabulous. If you're expecting another run-of-the-mill Papa Johns sort of place, you will be disappointed here. On the other hand, if you're looking for an authentic, hard-to-find experience, you're in for a fantastic treat which I cannot rate too highly. For the curious, here is a longer explanation of the above: Living in Napoli gave me many, many opportunities to experience genuine Napoletan pizza... and I quickly fell head-over-heels in love with it. Authentic Napoletan pizza is quite different from traditional American pizza--it is a simple, thin crust variety which is flash cooked in a wood oven. The result will have toppings which are not exactly uniformly scattered upon it, and there will be telltale char spots from the cooking process. These are all signs of the hand-made Napoletan process, and they also indicate a complete lack of our typical American 'prissy' neatness. Traditionally, you would have needed to travel to Italy to experience this delight; once I returned to America, I missed it terribly. Well, I have great news. A group of Italians formed a special association known internationally as the Vera Pizza Napoletana, or VPN. The VPN has a simple mission: to promote and protect the traditional, authentic style of making genuine Napoletan pizza. All VPN partners must not only follow the correct methodology when making their pizzas, but they must also use correct, authentic ingredients which are imported from Italy... and they must cook the pizzas in a proper wood-burning oven which must be built from special bricks imported from Italy. This seemingly outrageous list of requirements guarantees that, when you eat at a VPN restaurant, you are eating an exact clone of the pizza you would find had you instead flown to Napoli for your meal. Here in Utah, we are lucky: we have a VPN restaurant right under our noses. Settebello was Utah's first and still only restaurant which has been dedicated enough to sign on and faithfully adhere to all requirements of the VPN. If you're curious what a genuine Napoletan pizza is like, you owe it to yourself to eat here. One more thing: after years of remaining an unknown secret, this authentic, old world style of pizza is finally becoming popular with the masses. As you might guess, becoming VPN certified requires considerable cost and effort. For this reason, the vast majority of so-called authentic pizza restaurants which keep popping into existence don't go the extra mile to become VPN certified--they fall short of the mark in one way or another (or perhaps in multiple ways). To those who have never experienced genuine pizza napoletana, a place such as Terra Mia or Pizzeria Limone might seem fantastic... but once you've experienced the genuine article, you won't be satisfied by these impostors. Diner, beware.

ok i get it, this place is trying to be true Italian and the server scoffed at me when i asked for ranch, telling me they dont have such a thing. Well dumb ass I have been from Milano to Roma and your pizza aint the same and the gelato, not authentic, Maybe for Utah standards but if you want to judge me for a little dipping sauce then let me break it down for you!Prices are way too high especially for the salads. A couple of slices of mozzerella and tomato with olive oil is not worth the price, sorry.

This place had good reviews so we decided to go with a party of 8. The wait for a table on a monday night was very long. Not the restaurants fault but they were very busy and the wait time was about 15 minutes longer than the 1/2 hour the hostess said. The server was helpful with suggestions and quick with our first round of drinks. The beer selection is pretty good. The salads were good and flavorful with fresh ingredients. This is a pizza place and here is why only 2 stars. The Pizza took FOREVER to arrive at our table. It is a wood fired Pizza, it just shouldn't take 30 minutes to get them served. The crust is very soft and thin so you can't really pick up the slices, more of a knife and fork pizza. The toppings just kind of fall off. The flavors were uninteresting and pretty regular. It was just OK but nothing exciting or memorable. There are so many other pizza places that have better service, and much better pizza. I doubt i will go back.

our coworker told us that we must have pizza at settebello when we are in salt lake city, so as soon as we landed and picked up a rental car, we headed to downtown for an early dinner. luckily, we snagged the last spot in the small parking lot behind the building, saving us $4 valet fee. the restaurant is minimally decorated with a big brick wood burning oven occupying one side. we looked over the menu quickly, and ordered margherita (i judge every self-claimed authentic pizza joint by this) doc for me and settebello for my coworker. the pies arrived quickly with blistering char marks on the crust. i quickly grabbed a piece and took a huge bite while trying not to let the toppings fall off from the crust. it was a good pizza, but not an exceptionally great margherita. however, my coworker's settebello one was excellent in terms of flavor balance and freshness of ingredients. although the toasted pine nuts were subtly married into the flavor profile, it really enhanced the pizza to another level. settebello reminded me of pizzeria mozza with less exotic ingredients, but also less stuffiness. many ingredients are directly imported from italy which add to authenticity ans quality. i actually thought the pizza at settebello were better than some i had in italy. i'd definitely come back to try other pizza when i am the city again.

Quality and flavors of the ingredients were outstanding. Marinara was too wet (?) which made for a soggy crust, especially in the middle. Price was on the very high side, but definitely not your average pizza. Based on price and portion, would consider it a special treat. We were traveling through down town Salt Lake City, and wanted pizza. We did not want it from a chain restaurant and picked this via Yelp reviews.

I think the 3 star "a-ok" rating is appropriate. I've never had an experience at Settebello that was horrifying, however I've never had one that was mind blowing either. Overall it's just....average. It's reasonably priced for reasonable food. Even though my friends go on and on about it's deliciousness, I digress. It's just okay, and honestly I think it will remain just okay.

If you're looking for a hearty, smothered in cheese and chock-full-o-toppings pizza... this is not the place. But if you're looking for a realy thin-crusted, covered in super-fresh and yummy toppings pizza, then I'd recommend giving it a shot. The ingredients in both the salad and pizza are fresh, light and lively. We really enjoyed everything we ate. We didn't LOVE IT... and I don't think we're eager to hurry back, but it's good to have a place like this in our back pocket when the mood strikes.

I'm spoiled when it comes to pizza, in a few different ways. It's hard to challenge The Pie as Salt Lake's top pizzeria, and by many accounts, the pizza isn't even their best offering (pull-aparts much?). The Ex has a brother who's the corporate chef for arguably the best pizza in New York City, so I was able to get more than my fill of the good stuff when I was a Mid-Atlantic man, plus pizza in NJ/NY generally is superior to just about anything available in Utah. Rusted Sun has some great pies, though it's not really thin crust or deep dish so I stick with their calzones. So what's the charm at Settebello? It's not the unbearably noisy atmosphere or the complete lack of any substantial decor. It's not the almost curt waitstaff or the impossible parking nightmare. It's the pizza. It's so good. It's so goddamn good. Don't anticipate NY-style pie, because you won't get it. Settebello advertises itself as a "Napoletana" tradition joint, which they claim is pizza unbastardized by American nonsense. The crust is bubbly-thin like a New York slice, but that's where comparisons end. The sauce is sweet and delicate. The toppings are awesome. And the cherry wood-burning oven gives the entire ensemble a sharp initial crispness while pulling all the flavors together. Given the drawbacks mentioned above, it would be difficult for Settebello to pull anything above a three-star review. But the pizza does the job. Speedy service and reasonable prices don't hurt, either.

I see some lower reviews from people who perhaps do not understand this style of pizza. I had lunch there today and it was absolutely spot on. I go the Las Vegas one whenever I am there and both of these stores make the best pizza anywhere in my opinion. Service was great and parking was easy. Kudos Settebello!

Visited here several times, usually for special occasions. While the food is pretty darn great, I don't think it's as amazing as the atmosphere or price makes it out to be. Or the hype. I actually prefer Este pizza for flavor, but the two cater to different crowds. I take Settebello as a artisan pizza place. The flavors are unique as it goes in general with pizza places, but not as well paired as others I have tried elsewhere. The pizza is also a tad bit heavy to me. That being said, for a pizza place, it's pretty darn good. I just think there are better options (and prices) in the area. If you want a fancy pizza place that will impress the higher-class crowd, look no further. If you're in the mood for a salad, however, you've got some delicious choices at Settebello. I've enjoyed all that I have tried and actually prefer the veggie experience here rather than their main fare. Top it off with some of their in-house gelato and you've got a deliciously fresh pair.

A coworker told me about Settebello. He mentioned it casually, like, "oh, by the way, if you like pizza, may as well try Settebello". Like it was no big deal. Luckily that night, my boyfriend happened to suggest pizza, or I probably would have forgotten ever having heard about it. We tried it and are in love! When I tell people about it, I get enthusiastic! I wave my arms in the air! I use a lot of superlatives! I don't need to be verbose here, there's not much I can say that hasn't already been said. BEST. PIZZA. EVER.

We wanted to go to Red Iguana after hearing rave reviews, but we didn't have the time to wait 40 minutes for a table so after a little research, my hubby brought us here. We just got back from Italy two weeks prior, and honestly the pizza here was just as good if not better than pizza we had in Roma. (Obviously pizza styles vary a lot by region in Italy) but Settebello know what they are doing with that wood-burning oven! I had the Settebello, and my husband ordered a white-sauce pizza. The Settebello had sausage, mushrooms, and pine nuts. Great flavors, chewy crust with a slight charred flavor. I loved the addition of pine nuts, how clever! I left only a slice left, which my hubby was able to finish off as well as his whole pie. I love that you can devour a whole pizza without feeling like you're going to explode. We didn't have any salad, but they looked tasty. I also really wanted to stop by for some gelato after a Jazz game, but I didn't know if they would be open that late so we didn't but it looked delicious!

Settebello's panzanella salad is like no other salad in the world. That salad turns dieting into enjoying. I change the red wine dressing to their lemon dressing and my mouth starts watering.

REALLY expensive fancy pizza. Definitely not worth the price. We ordered the bruschetta, calzone, and cheese pizza. Both the calzone and pizza came out a little over-done. They offered to remake the calzone but by that time we had already waited 25 minutes between our tiny appetizer and our main food. Our bill was almost $50. The waitstaff was very friendly but we just couldn't get over the cost for the quality of what we were getting.

Maybe I just don't get it? I had the Insalate Salad, Margherita Pizza, and thanks-for-saving-me Tiramisu Gelato. The Insalate Salad was just a salad with nice shavings of parmesan on top. The salad itself reminded me of the Spring Salad Mix that they have at Costco. It was nice n' healthy and all, but I don't think it was worth the price. Hmm, the pizza... The pizza is made differently and the way they make it doesn't make me happy. They cook it in a special oven that cooks it until the point where it is almost cooked, but not cooked all the way so it is very doughy. The toppings for the Margherita Pizza should have been good, but I wanted more tomatoes, lots more basil, and I pretty much used a whole bottle of parmesan cheese to compensate for the lacking of cheese on the pizza. I felt like I was eating an emaciated pizza. Maybe I'm been corrupted by other pizzas? I don't know. The only thing that saved this dinner for me was the gelato that was made from the place next door. Delicious. Recommendation(s): Tiramisu Gelato

Needed to catch a sun dance film in less than a half hour, stopped in here and got the settebelli pizza and margarita pizza both delicious in a record of less than 7 min. ate and hopped across the street to see a great film! Highly reccommend!!

Wonderful, traditional pizzas. Dining room echos like the devil, and often there are too many loud kids running around, but worth the less than average ambiance. La Rosa beer is available in bottles (which the establishment does not recycle). My favorite place to take people that have never had "real" pizza. Oh, and a funny little thing that could only happen in our backwater state of Utah, they now offer to slice the pizza!!! I guess too many untraveled customers were confused by the whole pie and the fork and knife next to their plates.

I'm not sure you can find fresher ingredients on a pizza anywhere else in town. Word on the street is, they import special tomatoes from some secret place in Italy. Then they crush them to make their fantastic sauce! Okay, so maybe it's not so secret but I believe it. I love the freshness of the sauce and the thinness of their crust. I don't have a favorite pizza because there's no way I could choose. I have never had a bad pizza there. I will say that I do adore the Settebello pizza though because it has fresh basil and pine nuts. Pine nuts I say! And don't think you can go to Settebello and leave without trying their gelato. It is to die for. They have all kinds of flavors. I really enjoyed the pistachio and cheesecake gelatos the last couple of times I went. All this talk of pizza and gelato is making me want, nay, NEED to go there ASAP.

I love this place! I would eat here every day if I could afford it. The meats are delicious and the cheeses super flavorful. I always get the Misto and then the Diavola to share with my wife. The place is always packed and the wait to get seated are long, but totally worth it. I highly recommend this place to real Italian pizza lovers.

The pizza is the best in Salt Lake City. Based strictly on Pizza, this place is 5 stars. Based on everything else (decor, salads, service, etc.) this place gets bumped down to 4. I love it. We go here regularly. I agree with others that it is as close as it gets to having real Italian pizza without taking a trip to Naples.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret, insider information so to speak. Settebello will let you go halfsies* on pizzas as long as the sauce is the same. What? That's not a secret? Well, it was to me so it might be to some others out there. Anywho, Jeffrey S brought me here for lunch before the recent Salt Lake City Elite Event ( yelp.com/elite if you don't know what I'm referring to) and we had one pizza made two ways. The first half was the Carbonara pie, made with crushed tomatoes, pancetta, egg, fresh mozzarella, basil, parmigiano-reggiano, and extra virgin olive oil. Yes, yes, yes. Sign me up. I'm a fan. And all that jazz. This pie was good. The second half was the namesake the Settobello made with crushed tomatoes, pancetta, fennel sausage, roasted mushrooms, toasted pine nuts, mozzarella, basil, and extra virgin olive oil. Pine nuts on a pizza? I've never had it before, but it was grand. We also shared a salad called the Insalata Grande which had mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette, artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, parmigiano-reggiano, kalamata olives and pine nuts. Again with the pine nuts. I know, I know. But they are really good in my opinion. Settebello doesn't like to cut your pizza, but they will if you ask - that's another insider tip. You can thank me by sharing some of that pie now... * By halfsies, I mean they will let you get one whole pizza with two different sides.

Good pizza! Crust tends to burn in spots from the wood fire oven they use. It can get pricey if everyone gets there own pie but one can easily be shared by two people.

I have went from 5 stars when they first opened to 4 stars a year or so later and now 2 stars. When they first opened this place they had some directly from Italy making all of the sauces, pizzas, etc and then we was gone...slowly everything he taught them from the 'old country' has been lost. My last two times here the pizza comes out burnt but not fully cooked, sauce is week, ingredients sloppy, and the service lacks any real training, what a shame.

Oh how I love this place! When I first moved here, I didn't know that I'd ever find a place I loved. Homesick for NY pizza and looking for something better than my neighborhood offered, the boyfriend brought me here. I fell in love with the pizzas. Sure, you can start with the Insalata or the Misto (both tasty and good ways to start a meal) but you need to get into the pizzas to understand why people deal with the wait or the crowds or the noise. I've never had one slice here I didn't like. Favorites are the Quattro Stagioni - divided in quarters, topped with olives, sausage, salami and mushrooms. Nice variety when sharing with the table. The Bianca is nice, but if you don't like arugula, be careful, it's there in excess. I also love the Pizza Lasagna and the namesake pizza, the Settebello. I'm looking forward to another visit when I can try the Diavola and the Carbonara, since I haven't tried those yet. The service varies, but the food is enough to keep me coming back for more. Give me a glass of red wine (they have a decent selection) a slice of delicious wood fired pizza and the promise of gelato for dessert and I'm one happy woman.

In April 2010 I boarded an airplane and hopped the Atlantic for my first visit to Italy. One of our stops was Naples where, in my opinion, pizza is king. In the immortal words of Eat, Pray, Love "I had a relationship with my pizza" in Naples. Even the memory of this pizza makes me pause while writing this review ... Settabello Pizzaria Napoletana comes so close to pizza in Naples Italy it is scary yummy! I typically will get the Margherita, plain or with additional toppings, really one cannot go wrong here ... mmm pine nuts. For starters I recommend Focaccia (with olive oil and vinegar) or Caprese salad. The pizza comes uncut unless you ask for it to be sliced. Really why slice it when you have two perfectly good hands, dig in! The atmosphere is so-so for me but the food is so good I can overlook the industrial swank of it all. Saving room for the gelato? Meh? It is good, but I think the focus here, as it should be, is the pizza. So good it keeps me coming back for more AND reminds me of an amazing trip to Italy.

Great thin crust pizza choices on the menu. Love the arugula salad and be sure to order the shaved parmesan. Leave room for desert as their gelato is to die for. My favorite is half and half of Sweet Cream and Strawberry. Tastes like strawberries and cream :)

Most awesome and origional pizza EVER! Not for those who are afraid of different, I guess. The pizza here is unique, with toppings such as pine nuts, and other wow factor taste bud enticing ingredients. Then when you're done, get some of the most delicious gelato you've ever had. Tons of flavors to choose from. Awesome atmosphere, great for groups.

My favorite pizza joint is Flatbread in Sugarhouse, the gluten free crust is excellent as is the service. My husband thought I would like Settebello, so we made the drive downtown. (After messaging the restaurant to confirm gluten free option). It was a Wednesday night and it was not busy. Should have had good service, right? Not at all. We ordered and my husband's pizza came out instantly, as in not in enough time for it to even be cooked. It was cold and slimy. My GF pizza didn't come out to the table for 20 or so more minutes. Usually, at normal restaurants entrees for everyone are delivered together. Our server was not attentive for water refills. What the heck else was she doing? She only had one other table!! Anyway, back to the pizza. Celiacs beware!!!!! I was glutenated!!! Yes, I ate two slices of the diavola and I got bloating and stomach cramps (as always happens when I eat gluten.) Was severely disappointed these clowns did this to me. To compare with Flatbread's Diavola, this was not even close. To charge $17 for pizza which tastes worse than Little Caesar's is ridiculous!! Do yourselves a favor (especially if you have a gluten allergy) and dine somewhere else!

Has great potential. Ingredients seem to be high quality. However they need to learn how to prepare a pizza without charring the bottom o the crust. Sent the first two back. They next two came the same way. Might be that they simply aren't cleaning their oven.

A great find. I am visiting on business and just wandered, saw this place looked popular and went in. It was jumping at 7:30 on a Tuesday night! In spite of being pretty busy, I was seethed quickly, ordered and had my pie in 15 min. It was excellent. Thin delicious crust, tasty sausage, firm yummy shrooms and pine nuts. Great service, great pizza! Bonus, attached next door is a nice gelateria!

I like this place cause its simple. If you're a fan of brick oven pizza, try this place for sure. If you're not, than don't. simple as that. Probably the best brick oven pizza I've ever had. Small Beer Menu which is also a plus.

Been here probably ten times. If you like thin crust Neapolitan style pizza (which is uncommon), their pizza is hard to beat. Yes it can be a bit soggy because the crust is so thin. But their ingredients seem to be of very fine quality and very tasty. But, be prepared for a little sticker shock if you are thinking this will be a cheap date because it's pizza. Went there tonight with the fam: 4 individual pizzas, one salad, 2 cokes, a lemonade, a glass of wine and a cannoli. Wanna guess the tab? $91. Nuff said.

Take a deep breath. Now exhale. Ready? The pizza at Settebello is good. Really good. Is everyone still okay? It seems like Settebello is one of those places that stirs up emotion in a lot of people. We're dealing with the sacred art of pizza, after all. But for me it's simple; they make really good pizza. I've been several times now, most recently for a quick bite before going to a show. I usually have the namesake "Settebello Pizza" and love the combination of pancetta, sausage and pine nuts on the super thin crust with fresh basil. They adhere to a strict code to make their pizza--the Vera Pizza Napoletana charter--which dictates the ingredients they must use and the practices they must follow. Is this right? I don't know. Is their pizza authentic? I don't know, I've never been to Napoli. But is their pizza good? Asked and answered. As for the decor, I don't think it's supposed to be swanky or uber...well uber anything. Can we agree it's interesting? Their oven is wood fired and heats to around 900 degrees. It's fun to watch your little pizza get assembled and go in the oven. Good luck, little one! Maybe it's not that simple. Perhaps the microscopic details are what gives food that certain something. The je ne sais quois (does it get more complicated than using French to describe Italian pizza in the USA?) that keeps us coming back. I dunno. If the pizza's good, it's good. And this pizza is amazing.

I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, but the pizza was not that flavorful. Perhaps, I ordered the wrong pizza. The salad with goat cheese was amazing and the presentation was fabulous. I really enjoyed that salad and would highly recommend it. The ingredients used appear to be to be top notch, but I think their combinations of ingredients do transfer into a tasty pizza.

Their very glutinous pizza dough was likely cooked on very high heat, resulting in beautiful leopard-spotting and charring, but a very soft, soggy undercarriage with a rubbery bite. The mushrooms on the "Settebello" pizza had a slimey, flavorless quality to it reminiscent of canned or jarred mushrooms. Their panzanella was actually quite good, but for a spot known for their pizza, I suppose I expected more.

This was my first time eating in Salt Lake and I did love the pizzas here. I ordered the margarita and the carbonara pizzas - they were excellent. Nice and hot with a chewy crust. Very nice wine list that complimented the pizza. Great wait staff and a fun atmosphere. It lost a star for the sullen, rude and basically nasty hostess and her twit sidekick, who literally rolled his (pierced) eyes at me when it came time to seat us. I truly have never been treated so badly at a restaurant - this gal should never work in the hospitality biz.

Oh Settebello, how I love you. This place is awesome. The pizza is amazing. I love the quattro formaggi, and my boyfriend loves the settebello. We have been multiple times now and both agreed it is the best pizza we've ever had. For those that don't like the pizza, I think you have to appreciate the real style. The crust is not soggy, it is the style of the pizza. Oh, and the prosciutto appetizer is something I'd be impressed with at a fine dining establishment. The place and service is very laid back. I do like such good food in such a casual atmosphere. It is a very comfortable place. We really enjoy server Natalie, and now ask for her when we go. Also, the gelato is so good. Nutella gelato..... can anything get better??? A must try. Do it! Or else.

I used to love this place. The first several times I went there the pizza was nothing short of fantastic. Times have changed, evidently. The last few times I've been there the pizza's outside is burned and the middle is soggy. Truly dissappointing, especially considering the good start.

Please no one see validity in the comment below by Vida A. It is absolutely authentic although I agree the Gelato is not as much so. I came to Settebello the day after being in Rome and the pizza is the same. I had a slightly better experience in Naples as there was larger variety, but you'll always find another location in Italy where someone does something a little bit better than the next. Settebello keeps it real and is true to the Italian pizza world.

Terrible pizza!! By far the worst!! Worse then pizza hut!! Uncooked dough.. The oven is too hot and the pizza doesn't have enough time to set up and get crispy I know this because I've worked a wood fired oven at two different restaurants! The menu is a psych out, it reads like the owner is knowledgable of Naples. What a let down. Obviously nobody in Salt lake knows good pizza because this place was busy. Its really too bad because they have a beautiful wood fired oven if only they knew how to use it!!!

Having seen Settebello the other night after a stop in at Red Rock, I put it on my list to try. After my dinner there last night I am glad I did. The interior is cool, clean, casual and contemporary. While I usually like being seated at the bar area while dining solo, I opted against it this time as I would have been the only one there (at the time). Although I kinda of regret it only because I would have been able to watch as they create their pizzas and watch them bake in that wonderful wood fired oven. As I perused the menu a few things jumped out at me that I knew I had to try. Involtini di Prosciutto - Prosciutto Crudo Wrapped Around Baby Arugola and Goat Cheese. Topped with Goat Cheese, Shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, Balsamic Reduction and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This was the highlight of my whole meal. The arugola was crisp and fresh. Its peppery flavor with the tart earthy goat cheese and the sweetness of the balsamic were amazing. The prosciutto, olive oil and parmigiano just added to the rich depth of flavor of this dish. This dish was 5 stars for me. Quattro Stagioni - Margherita Divided Into Four Sections. Each Section Topped Separately With Wood Oven Roasted Sausage, Salame, Roasted Mushrooms, Calamata Olives. The pizza for me was 3-3.5 stars. A estilo Napelotana, I knew to expect a thin crust and while I did not experience the soggy bottom like other past patrons. I did find the dough to have been overworked. The flavors of the crust imparted by the wood oven were wonderful and complimented the fresh simplicity of their tomato sauce and the rest of their topping options. The mozzarella and hint of fresh basil over the sauce were well balanced. Of the 4 toppings I would have to say the sausage was the best, with hints of what I believe to be cinnamon and anise. The kalamata olives large and whole (pitted), managed awkwardly on the pizza. I would have preferred them more if they had been smaller, halved or quartered to better distribute their flavor and sit better on the pizza. But that is just a personal preference. Otherwise their flavor and brine were well complimented with the sauce. The mushrooms alone and salame alone were just ok. The quality of their ingredients is what allows Settebello to shine. Not quite 5 stars but not far from it either...

My husband I came here on a whim and we were treated to the best pizza ever. On a Saturday night in Denver, this place would of had an hour to two hour wait, but we were seated in less than ten minutes. Fresh ingredients, good wine and tasty gelato! We will definitely come back the next time we are in SLC.

We stumbled in one weekday afternoon around 3pm and we we the only customers there. Normally back east this would be a bit of a red flag but in SLC it's apparently quite common for a restaurant to be empty in the afternoon. My wife and I ordered individual pizzas of different varieties. Very tasty, both of them but I felt the toppings were a bit skimpy for the money. Nice selection of beers, both the expected and regional favs. Our server was attentive and friendly w/o being over zealous. If the prices had been a little lower (or the toppings more generous) I would not have hesitated to give 5 stars.

Probably the best pizza in Salt Lake for my taste. Yes there's The Pie but that's a little on the heavy side. This is light, wood fired oven pizza that taste fresh and delicious. More traditional Naples style. The only complaint is that it can get a little too busy and the pizza can get a little soggy when it sits too long. My favorite is the spicy Divola. Mmm.

One of the best pizza's I've ever eaten! I'll be back. The gelato served next door is amazing.

A good honest replication of the "old world" version of this treat. It is worth the trip if, for nothing else, to experience the pizza as it was intended by Italian hands and Italian ingredients. This is the type of place to visit if you are a culture snob and bristle at the grease created by a pizza from the "pie". Not quite in the same league as the gold standards (ex. Wiseguy at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix) but it is a great pizza and does Salt Lake City proud. Also, the displayed art and photos are great. Anyone care to tell me where they came from?

Perfect simple flavors will get me every time. Old world style Napoli pizza with fresh ingredients and cooked just right. They recommend not ordering pizzas to-go and I can't agree more. The quicker you can get those bites into your mouth from the out of the real wood burning oven the better. The server offered this red pepper infused olive oil to drizzle on my pie and that was a real kickstarter. Thanks man! Can't wait to try some more pizzas.

Best pizza I have had outside of Italy. My fiancee, who is a foodie from Tuscany agrees. This is the most authentic Italian place I have been to in the States, I travel a lot and have had a lot of authentic pizza in Italy and I am a foodie. Anyone who gives this place a bad review has a bad palate used to Domino's and Pizza Hut! This place rocks! They brought REAL wood fire pizza ovens straight from Naples and they are certified in their authenticity. They even stream radio straight from Italy... their espresso is straight from Italy and the best around, Illy. I love this place!!!! And btw, people who complain about the wait time on the food... REAL FOOD TAKES A WHILE TO MAKE, THIS IS NOT MCDONALD'S!!!!

Pizza and Focaccia crust were both very burnt and while the pizza crust was burnt the toppings were under cooked and very soggy. Had heard great things so we were very disappointed. The gelato was excellent though. Will go for gelato and coffee but not the pizza.

A different kind of pizza. If you have an appreciation for pizza that isn't like the mediocre stuff you get from regular pizza joints, you'll love this place. Try the quatro formaggi. It's superb.

Love the pizza here. It's definitely the most authentic I've found thus far. That said, if you're a fan of American style pizzas, you might hate this place. Authentic Italian pizza is very different.

I don't understand the complaints I read about the pizza here. To me, the pizza we had was very comparable to the best NY style or Napoli pizza I have had. Every time I go to New York, we go to either John's or Grimaldi's, and while the pizza at Settebello isn't quite that good, it is pretty close. It is in the same ballpark as the best in Houston, and could compare without shame to pizza I had in Italy. I think a lot of the complaints boil down to it not being Domino's. Well duh. I thought they did a fine job, the service was good, and the gelato for dessert was very nice. They should be very proud of their restaurant. It is one of the best I have found in Salt Lake City.

The most legit Italian style pizza that I've had since in Italy. Their ingredients are fresh, their pizzas are appropriately sized, and their beer and wine collection are complementary to their entrees. I'd definitely go back here for pizza whenever I come back to downtown SLC.

Really liked the authenticity of the food here. Ordered the margherita pizza and it was almost as good as the margheritas I have had in Italy. Service was great; prices good.

I lived in Naples for three years and this place is one of my favorite places in Utah for Pizza and the Gelato here is no doubt the best in Utah. The seating is a little tight, with small chairs, and service is just a little slow sometimes, but other than that I can't really complain about anything. I love the D.O.C. and the fact that they have buffalo mozzarella. I'll probably visit this place again in the next few days!

I always come here telling myself I'm not going to eat the whole thing - but my willpower fails every time! There's that one piece left sitting there crying out - you know you want to.... It may be the best pizza I've ever eaten. I swing back and forth between the Diavola (spicy and delicious) and the carbonara (nothing more Australian than egg and bacon on a pizza!). A friend swears by the Bianca, with proscuitto and fresh arugula. Sure, the crust and style is totally different to an American pizza, but if you can get past that, you may never look back. The ambiance could use some work - it is very bright - but when the food is this good, I don't really care. As a perfect end to the meal, the gelato shop is right next door - you really can't go wrong with a casual night out here.

According to Settebello, their pizzas are "VPN" certified - Vera Pizza Napoletana. I don't know what that entails, but whatever they are doing, I like it! They had various interesting selections of basic pizza ingredients that there were several pizzas that I wanted to try. The place is simple: a couple of tables and a widely exposed kitchen showing their wood-brick oven. We shared the Bianca (proscuitto crudo, swiss cheese, arugula, no tomatoes) and the Diavola (peppered salami, peppers, tomatoes, etc), and both were delicious in their own ways. My friend got a quatro pizza that had 4 different toppings on 4 different parts of the pie, and she liked hers too. Ended our meal with a nice cup of gelato (they have blood orange sorbet, my favorite!!!!) made next door. How pleasant!

  • Robert C.

Almost the best you will find in town for somewhat authentic style Italian pizza, BUT the crust is always SOGGY only to be made much more obvious because the lighting in the place is brighter than the sun! They have no clue about ambiance or mood lighting whatsoever. Yet despite these 2 flaws, the flavors are good and they do a decent soggy pie, even when you order it well down (burnt). For much better crust, head over to Maxwells or Sea Salt. So to recap, 2 stars for soggy dough and zero ambiance with painfully bright lighting. If they read this review, invest in dimmers, and crisp up your dough and ill update my review to 4 stars. Tip: Order your pizza well down and have them cut it!

From what I hear... people who have been to Italy, say that this place has the most authentic Italian pizza. I have been here a couple times & I have enjoyed everything I have gotten. My favorite part about Settebello is that you can get delicious gelato next door! Yum Yum! The gelato shop is connected to the restaurant, so you can go to and from both places with ease.

Every time I eat at Settebello, I crave nothing but Settebello for days. I love pizza, and this is its king. Much unlike the American pizza most are used to, this is true Napoletano pizza where everything is absolutely fresh and delicious. Fresh crushed tomatoes on a hand-tossed crust, perfectly topped with the finest mozzarella (not some fake replacement cheese) and baked in wood-fire ovens until they're perfectly ready to delight your mouth. Exaggeration? Not at all. If you're into fresh flavors, herbs, real ingredients, and not a slave to the sugary processed foods common at other pizza places, this will be heaven for you. Start simple, the margherita pizza is quite simply perfect. Have a group with you, start off with a Misto, a sampling of meats, cheeses, olives, vegetables, and focaccia. And if you can somehow manage not to fill up on all the great food and wine, they have one of the best gelato shops. Don't worry, the gelato just fills in the gaps.

It's almost a joke now. Everyone who comes for business stays at the residence inn and the first question they ask is where are we going to dinner, the second question, do I have to get a license to have beer? So, I always start with Settebello. Consistently great pizza, I mean everytime. Steak and potatoes Mid- westerners may struggle with Arugula on their pizza but there's carnivore options as well. As for the beer license I collect $10 from each of them, tell 'em I know a guy and take over to Redrock.

Settebello has been a long time favorite of mine. The food is ALWAYS amazing and the ingredients are fresh. Its a perfect spot for a first date or a girls night out. I love nothing more than a thin crust pizza. I don't know what type of sauce they use but oh my goodness it is so fresh and out of this world good. The pizzas are never too heavy or too greasy which is a HUGE plus for me. Parking here, especially on weekends, can be a bit of a challenge but its nothing that would keep me from dinning here. In all the times I have dined here I've only ever had one strange service experience. All in all this place delivers and simply because I'm stingy with my 5 stars I gave it a 4. Go grab some yummy pizza.

So I have heard so many people rave about this place and had to try it.....what's the big deal? The service was fine, clean and fun decor but the food was really not that great. I felt like my pizza was way too soft and mushy on the bottom. The red sauce was ok, pretty plain but probably the best part of the slice. The cheese kind of tasted like fake, pre shredded stuff, is that even allowed at a place that is supposed to have awesome italian food?

  • Julie R.

Heavenly pizza! I'm a VERY healthy person so I only eat pizza once....maybe twice a year tops. This is the only pizza I ever want. Everything is fresh, the crust is chewy and has a lovely char to it and it's hard not to eat the whole pan myself. We've had a variety of appetizers here, wine, beer, salads you name it. I've never once left unhappy. Visit the gelato bar next door too. They have seasonal flavors and one of our faves is canteloup

Dine-O-Round Destination #6 Dinner Special: $15 for Insalate Salad, Margherita Pizza, and Gelato. Being that I absolutely love Margherita pizza in general, I was so excited to finally try this place out, especially for a steal! Well... this wasn't exactly the best dining experience I've had. Because I had a large party (8), we were placed in the back next to a large table of teenagers on homecoming night... yay? Sad day. Because of how busy the night was, it also contributed to fairly negligible service. Once I actually placed my order, the dine-o-round special, I was really disappointed. The salad was fine, nothing to write home about. Although their large shavings of parmesan cheese were much appreciated. I was most disappointed with the pizza. The margherita pizza had no sliced fresh tomatoes, what fresh tomato flavor was there turned out to be pretty undetectable, almost like the tomato sauce was made from the same watery tasting tomatoes that supplies Subway. There wasn't very much basil and it really just fell short in terms of flavor. Also, the pizza crust was very thin, which I don't mind if the texture is crispy, but it made the pizza very soggy except for the actual crust. And the actual crust had the consistency of naan, which I'm still debating whether or not I liked that for a pizza. The gelatto came from next door, Capo Gelateria, and was pretty fantastic, but I think that deserves a separate review. Hopefully if I come again during a not so busy night, the pizza will be well cooked and of better quality.

I love it and my Italian chef boyfriend approved. I never tried anything else other than the pizza though. I don't really like the ambience..It needs to be quieter and more private in my opinion, but the pizza is great.

Great pizza, great appetizers, and great service! I couldn't decide what wine to order, so the server brought me a sample of some Marsala, which was utterly delightful. I had two glasses and forgot what it was called, darn it. We order the Caprese Antipasti and the Marinara pizza. Baked to perfection. There was not one crumb of food left on anybody's plate. BTW it gets VERY loud in here at dinner time!

Note people, I'm giving two stars based on Yelp, not based on the traditional sense of a star rating. Thus, two stars = Meh, I've experienced better. And I have. This is no Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. Or Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles... Where some of the best ingredients in such simple preparations make all the difference. What I did like about Settebello was the crust on their pizza. There is nothing that can beat a true wood fired crust when done right. Good amount or crunch, yet still on the inside, moist and gooey. The ingredients though could use some work. They are not of the best quality, and the final product shows it. Higher quality cheeses, and meats would make a big difference. Perhaps go down the street to Caputo's and get a few ideas from them?

Fodor's guidebook said this might be the best Neopolitan pizza outside of Italy. Really? Have they been outside of SLC? I think NYC has better thin-crust pizza. I am not saying the pizza is not good. The crust is thin, which is as expected. But like what others said, the sauce is too wet, so it makes the pizza soggy. Sis and I shared the settebello pizza, and the dinner salad. Salad was drowned in olive oil (I had forgotten to ask them for the dressing on the side), but otherwise the combination of ingredients was good (olives, parmesan cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes). Pizza, which took a long time to come out, was good, but not great. The ingredients were tasty, but I wish there was more of them. The wetness of the sauce made the pie flimsy, and almost watery. I may drop by if I return to SLC. This is good, but I have had better.

Proper Italian Pizza since being in Italy. Loved the pizza so much, the dough reminded me of the dough my grandmother would make when she made fresh bread. The Bacci gelato is to die for, cant remember the last time i had bacci mmmmmm

The food is AMAZING- so good- I got the Settebello- but vegetarian. YUM! and my co-workers salad with the HUGE strips of parmesan was great (she shared). The gelato was like something from a dream. So, why the 3 stars? The service was horrible. Our waitress ran away from us after she gave us our pizza for like 20 minutes, and then came back with checks. Um... I want gelato. So, she was annoyed to have to redo the checks. I would go back for the wonderful, amazing food...

YUMMM. Truly authentic italian pizza. Crust so thin, ingredients fresh, mozarella CHEEEEEEEEEEESY, & the menu is tiny which I like (too much = overwelming!) We got the caprese salad ====YUM! i LOVE caprese salad so I can eat 3 plates of those. We also ordered the insalata ---yummy, fresh cheeses and veggies. For our pizzas, we got the settebello pizza and the carparccio pizza MMMMMMMM the artichokes, fenneled sausage, cured italian bacon, proscuitto.....sigh. so amazing. The service was really great too. Our waiter was really sweet and helpful! Will def be back again if I'm in town.

I cannot wait for this place to prove me wrong. I called ahead to let them know my group was coming, as they recommended to me. I arrived at 7:15pm and was turned away at the door. They had run out of dough. BOOOOO! Could they have told me that when I called in? Sad sad sad. Not the first time this particular place has done this to me. Do I give them another shot? I haven't decided yet.

My friends and I were in SLC for a ski trip (from Vancouver) and we literally stumbled on this place and I was BLOWN away by the pizza. Delicious. I saw someone say that the pizza isn't as good as it was when it first opened and I really wonder what it tasted like. After my first bite, I was eating pizza out of my lap because my jaw hit the floor. It was so good!!

I went here for the first time last week for a business luncheon with 4 in our group. The restaurant was clean and nice looking both inside and out. The service was good and fast, but I had to ask a few times for a refill. Time from ordering to receiving the food was fast considering they had to bake 4 pizzas for our group. I got a pizza, can't remember the name of it, but it was one on the menu with a few things added to it that the waiter recommended and it was good. It is more authentic Italian pizza with thin crust and little meat. The pizzas are about 12" round and good enough to fill you up. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but good. I actually prefer Chicago style pizza much better. Once nice thing was that the place was pretty quite so we could talk business without having to yell across the table and the place was busy. I also learned that the oven there was actually shipped over from Italy and is over 100 years old or something so they can make an authentic margherita pizza. I uploaded a picture of the oven.

The pizza here reminds me of real pizza from Italy. I've tried several "authentic" Neapolitan pizza restaurants in the USA and this one is up there in terms of resemblance to true Neapolitan pizza. Good gelato too.

    (5)
  • Korey K.

The Napoli style of cooking in a brick oven gives the crust a great crispness and melts the cheese just enough. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. The pizzas are not overcrowded with toppings, which keeps it light and let's you taste everything. Service was friendly and quick. A must if you're in SLC.

  • K R.

"Real" Italian pizzerias seem to be popular right now, and this one stacks up as average compared to its competition. There are better pizzerias around. The service is average, the food is average. That's not to say that it's not tasty, it's just not the best. The gelato next door, however, is off the charts.

Settebello almost got five stars from me -- which is what I'd give if there was nothing wrong. It deserves 4 1/2 stars. The Margarita pizza was sublime. The salad was fresh (none of the bits of wet or brown-tinged lettuce you too often find in restaurants). The gelato was wonderful. The only drawback was the lemonade which tasted like water faintly tainted with dirty lemon. Those who didn't like the pizza probably don't understand how real Neopolitan pizza is supposed to be. This is the real thing; it isn't supposed to have a crisp crust a la Pizza Hut. If you know good Italian coffee, you'll appreciate that they use Illy coffee. The wine list is decent and good value. Try the Sicilian Pinto Noir; very smooth. As for the service, good even when it was packed -- as it was three of our four visits. We had a different server every visit, all of them personable, knowledeable and good at their job. I regret that we don't live closer to Settebello.

we came here for the first time a few weeks ago and it was delicious! this place was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint!! if you love authentic Italian style pizza then this is the place to get it. hands down the best one I've had in SLC.

I went there yesterday for the first time. That Pizza was waaaay good, I haven't had good pizza for years and I am hooked. I am craving it again today but unfortunately they are closed on Sunday. :( I wish they open after church or something.

Pizza unlike you've ever had before! If you want more typical American pizza, Rusted Sun and Este are better options. That said, this is the most delicious, most flavorful pizza I've ever had. I've never once had to wait for a table, even during peak hours. Oddly enough, the service is quite bad when the place is slow, and the salad greens are typically 30% rotten.

Gotta be my new favorite pizza place in SLC. Perfect portion for me as I usually eat quite a bit. Pizza's are thin crust with just a little bit of cheese. They also have a spicy oil they can put on to give it a kick (not on the menu). Gotta give this place a try. Get some Gelato while your at it. We got cake batter last time I went and I still am satisfied a month later.

Settebello's is delicious. No, it's not quite as wonderful as my favorite Neapolitan pizzeria (2 Amy's in Washington DC) but it's a hell-of-a-lot closer and their pizza is pretty divine. I've met the owner (Mark) a couple of times... he's a friend-of-a-friend and seems like a pretty genuine, hands-on guy... which I admire. End your meal by exiting the south end of the building and ordering a small cut of gelato. Great place... I highly recommend!

  • Sam S.

I hate to be the cog in the wheel that's turning the other way but in my opinion Settebello is overpriced and not that great. Was the food well prepared with quality ingredients and TLC? Yes. But would I rather have ordered from Domino's? Also yes. Maybe my pizza palette is just not very sophisticated, in fact, I know it's not. When it comes to pizza I'd rather have ordered Domino's than gone to Settebello. Call me crazy if you like but after paying $70 for pizza for three I just feel like I could have got a better value somewhere else. In conclusion I want to emphasize that the pizza itself was good, the ingredients were quality, but for me the price simply was not worth it.

Superb, delicious, almost-real-Italy pizza, fast service, but noisy, odd ambiance. The pizza of Naples is widely considered the queen of the Italian pizza race, a race with only degenerate descendants on this side of the Atlantic. I've had better Neapolitan pizza in the US, but very seldom, and in each case a thousand miles or more from Utah. The wood-fired oven gives an amazing crust, and the ingredients are simple and delicious. These are the elements of all good pizza in Italy, and are seldom seen in the US, where pizza more and more means death by cheese and thick brown tomato sauce. This is not quite a trip to Italy, much less Naples, but it is a delicious and easy way to get as close as you can without a very long journey. The bags of Italian flour and cans of San Marzano tomatoes are very impressive. A few other Utah pizzas offer a wood oven now, but the simple, authentic toppings here still set it apart. The wine list is simple, inexpensive, and decent, and they serve a couple of Italian beers in bottles. If you want an $80 wine with pizza, you may need to bring your own. The only downsides to Settebello in my opinion are a slightly cheap, noisy atmosphere. Chair legs screech on the concrete floor, the space echoes, children cry, the service is fast but slightly impersonal, and the wine is served in cheap little flat glasses. Some variant of this could be very Italian, but this variant just feels a bit cold and tawdry. In sum, I love this pizza, but I could love the restaurant better if they revised their presentation and feel.

Love it! *WARNING* If you only like "Americanized" pizza then this place is not for you. If you like more authentic Italian styled pizza this is the place. I work within a hundred steps of Settabello so I find myself there often. Fresh ingredients not overwhelmed by mountians of cheese and sauce keeps me coming back. I love this pizza and think the simplicity and freshness set it apart. I have never traveled to Europe so I really am not an expert on authentic pizza; however, I like to pretend.

Eh. Wasn't really all that I thought it would be. With all the good reviews I was excited to try this place. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was OK. I'm in no hurry to go back. First, I'm not a huge fan of this part of town. You either circle the block for a half hour to try to find a spot or you pay to park. We chose the later. After stepping over the passed out homeless guy and dodging the emergency vehicles responding to Red Rock we finally made it inside. Again, eh. It was loud and very crowded. We received good service. I thought our waitress was friendly and prompt. Our drinks were refilled usually before they were gone (big bonus for my family). I got the margarita pizza with sausage. The taste was good but nothing that really blew me away. My crust was soggy, gross. I have definitely had worse but I have also had better. Maybe I'm just not into the "real" Italian thing. I don't want olives and oils or vinegars on my pizza. After dinner we decided to get a gelato. At first I was not going to partake but then my eyes wandered to the pistacio. Its pretty hard to find good pistacio ice cream/gelato. So I decided I needed a medium size. First the price; significantly better then I have ever paid for gelato in Park City. Last one I got cost like $7 for a sample size. Ok, maybe not sample but pretty close. The medium here was under $4, 3 and some change. The pistacio was good, no complaints. My only complaint about this was it crammed with people. There was no sitting room and really no standing room either. The whole line had to move and shift so that I could get out the door. So I guess if it were quieter, less busy and had a better parking situation I would be more open to it. Like I said before, I'm in no hurry to return.

I'm not sure if I've ever had authentic Italian pizza but i love thin crust pizzas with really fresh toppings so I was pretty excited to try Settebello out. Unfortunately, I left feeling pretty disappointed. The crust was thin and crispy, but it was also pretty burnt in a lot of places. The toppings were really scant, which may have been why the pizza wasn't particularly flavorful. The waitress kept trying to talk me into buying 2 pizzas, one for me and one for my 90 year old grandma. She did guilt me into buying an appetizer of foccacia bread. The good thing about the bread was that it was the same size as an entire pizza. The bad thing about it was that even though it was an appetizer, it came after our pizza. I guess that's my punishment for being dumb enough to order bread before eating a whole pizza. Settebello's might be worth trying out since it's really reasonably priced but I probably won't be going there again any time soon.

A good friend recommended Settebello to me. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner. Popular place, but the wait wasn't too long and boy was dinner great! This is the place to get good, authentic pizza. We sat at the counter and it was fun to watch them make the pizzas. I had the Pizza Lasagna and it was terrific. In short, great atmosphere, great service and great food. We'll go again soon.

This was my first time. I enjoyed the Settebello 12"... However, I got too excited because the sauce burnt my tongue. MY BAD!! I think that ruined the experience for me.... I can't say anything bad about this place... Wait.. maybe I can. You pay a dollar for every inch of pizza you order. What's up with that? I guess you gotta make money somehow. OH, and are we suppose to eat our pizza with a fork and knife? We noticed the silverware AFTER we'd already chowed down on our pizza! Still not sure about that! Our waitor was awesome.

Mmmmm, pizza. This place has great pizza. If you're a fan of pizza hut, look somewhere else. The pizza here is Italian style, and cooked in a brick-fire oven. Sit at the bar, and you can watch them toss dough, assemble, and cook your masterpiece. The crust is super thin, but not crunchy. It remains soft and chewy - be careful not to spill toppings on your lap. The sauce is wonderfully balanced, with a slightly sweet aftertaste. The cheese is fresh provolone, and the toppings are top quality. This place gets busy, so plan accordingly. Dining is not intimate, and can get loud, but that's not stopping me from taking a date there. Just sit at the bar.

My pizza wasn't burnt at all, so maybe they've fixed that issue. It did, however, require some careful eating so that the toppings wouldn't roll off my lunch and onto my shirt. I tried and would definitely recommend the Capricciosa pizza, which has prosciutto, olives, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, basil, etc. Yumminess! This is a great downtown lunch option, especially if you are by the convention center.

Was driving through Salt Lake City to head over to CA. Was feeling like pizza for dinner so I looked up a pizza restaurant on Yelp. With many good reviews, a part of me thought it was another Yelp hype but went ahead... it was getting late. I ordered the Settebello pizza and it came out uncut. Apparently that's how authentic italian pizzas are served. I used the utensils to cut the pizza and took the long awaited first bite. WOW.. the crust is one of the most chewy doughs i've ever had. Very different from the typical pizza doughs you would find at local pizzeria. Nice homey decor, friendly staff, clean, quick! I wish I had more time to indulge myself to another pie, but alas... I needed to get to Elko, NV by midnight. On the way back home, I know I'm stopping by this place again. Can't wait. Recommendation - Settebello pizza with anything icy cold!

Settebello is the best pizza in the State of Utah. In fact, I think it is some of the best pizza I have ever had. But, hands down best in Utah. People that think otherwise are boring and should frequent Dominos or Pizza Hut because that is all their palate can handle. Eat the pizza while its hot and fresh. Settebello has a special wood fired oven that was imported from Italy. They nail the crust! Thin, light, crispy and sometimes slightly charred to perfection. Everything is as fresh as can be. The waiters are usually pleasant on the eyes. Gelato next door. Illy coffee products. Fresh light salads with arugala, pinenuts, outstanding olive oil and balsamic vinegar and other authentic Italian style ingredients . No Ranch Dressing or iceberg lettuce here. Thank God!

  • David S.

Great wood-fired pizza (not praise I give lightly- I'm very serious about pizza). The wait can be long and uncomfortable on a weekend evening. The atmosphere is whatever, but the servers have always been hospitable. The affiliated gelato joint next door does justice to the pizza.

Possibly the best pizza in America. Imported tomatoes, cheese, and flour - about as close to Italy pizza I've had. Mr. Otton, the West Side of Los Angeles awaits, please - come here next.

Went here the week they opened and was not blown away. Have been back twice recently (years later) and am now a huge fan! PROS: The pizzas are excellent. The simple arugula salad is fresh and delicious. The service is attentive. CONS: I would have to agree with another reviewer that the ambiance and layout are a disappointment. I would also add that it's quite warm inside. They need to increase the A/C to counter the heat from the oven. But those things do not detract from the great food. Highly recommend!

  • Jim D.

Not bad, but not as good as Pizzeria 712 in Orem. I know this kind of pizza is supposed to be a little wetter than American pizza, but all the pizzas my group (of four) ordered were soggy compared to similar fare I've had in different cities. It was decent, and I'd be willing to go back, but I'd probably never suggest it on my own. (Also, for SLCers who have never tried Pizzeria 712, it really is better. Suck it up, go to Utah County for an hour, and experience the difference.)

OH MY LORD!!! I HAVE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN!!!! I first had Settebello in Utah!! I was there with my boyfriend for work and we he had been the night before I arrive and said how amazing it was and that I would really like it! Boy was he not kidding!!! I was there for only 2.5 days and we ate there 3 more times!!! It was amazing!! So amazing that on our way home we heard there was one in NV and tried to locate it, however it was too far out of our way!!! Far out of our way?....yes, but that won't stop us!! We planned a trip to Vegas around Settebello!!! We actually ONLY went to Vegas so that we could go to Settebello!!! We were in Vegas for less than 2 days and ate there 3 times (must be our magic #)!!! There is not a bad item on their menu!!! My favorites are their Caprese salad, margherita pizza and their marghertia pizza with sausage or salame!!! They also have Nutella pizza for dessert!!! A MUST!!!!!...and amazing gelato!!!!! I just wish that they would open a location in Orange County. We have a place near us like Settebello, but you really can't compete with perfection!!!

I like the settebello pizza as its signature dish - a napolitano style pizza with pine nuts, Crushed tomatoes, pancetta, wood oven sausage, roasted mushrooms, mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil. It works for me and is very satisfying with a Peroni Lager (italian beer). I would love the crust to be a little crisper. But I love all pizzas - chicago, NYC, California style and what I love best is that it is so different at each hole in the wall or college joint and so I just consider this - Settebello style pizza. If you can let go of the idea that there is a black and white set of rules for pizza you'll be able to enjoy a great time with friends and food. The gelato from Dolcetti is world class if you get a fresh made batch - if its older than 24 hours its just very good ice cream. The owner had me try 2 different batches back to back and it's amazing the difference time makes.

Love this place! Probably the only pizza I've had that didn't drip with grease. It tastes fresh and almost-sorta healthy (I'm sure it's not but I like to think so.) I had some very cool Italian beer with my pizza (never knew Italian beer existed but not bad!) and some dessert next door. Overall, my experience was good and I would go back. I only give it 4 stars because their menu fits on one page.. I wanted more options!

I knew this place as best pizza place in town. But this changed when we got there 2 weeks ago. We took a friend because we always loved the pizza there. However, all of the pizzas we ordered came out burned but squashy. It seemed that the oven was too hot and burned the pizza crust before it was actually done. Yucky! We will not got there again!!!

  • Tricia L.

This pizza is delicious! Mmmmmmm... I could eat it all day. The thin crust makes the pizza so much lighter and more refreshing than American pizza (I suppose the choice of toppings, the lack of extra seasonings added to the tomato sauce, and the absence of puddles of grease help too). My uncle is a born-and-raised Italian and says this pizza is legit. He refuses to eat pizza from anywhere else now.

Settebello is real Neopolitan pizza from beginning to end. The flour, the tomatoes and the cheese are the same you would find in any quality pizzeria in Naples (I went to school in Italy for six months so piss off). Even the brick oven was imported. The limited menu at Settebello is a plus. There is no filler, and they don't try to please everyone. Those who want a stuffed crust, a "Hawaiian Luau", or a barbecued chicken pizza should look elsewhere (hopefully someplace far, far away). Settebello focuses on a few classics, and they execute them with precision. For Antipasti, get the Insalate Grande. It's array of ingredients has something for everyone. The pizzas are all slight variations on the classic Margherita; just pick your additional toppings. The crust is the best part; always sublime in taste and texture. (Notice to some reviewers: These pizzas are cooked quickly in a thousand degree brick oven. "Burned" spots are a natural, but tasty consequence). Have a glass of red wine or an Italian birra, and pistachio gelato for dessert to round out the meal. Settobello used to bring your pizza to the table uncut, just like in old Naples. But I think too many complaints from philistine customers caused them to abandon this practice. I recommend asking for your pizza whole. Then just rip off a piece and dig in.

Good pizza, but not spectacular - seems a little over rated for my taste. Nice little place with cool atmosphere. They do describe their pizza as different - Napolitano (not right, but something like that) style from Italy. I wasn't bad, just not great for my taste. My wife liked it more than I. (I would give 3.5 stars if possible)

I ended up here because I was walking towards Red Rock Brewery. Was I glad I came here for that night? The pizza was neopolitan which was good. I had the four style pizza (not really the name) but had four types in one pizza. The best part was probably their selection of wine. They had italian wine. I am biased towards Napa Valley wines but their Italian wine are good. I forgot what I got, but it had Christ in its name. I recommend it. I will probably go here again when I hit Salt Lake.

I was in Salt Lake City on business, and checked out yelp for a good place to eat. This small restaurant is located downtown in an area with many other restaurants. I ordered a pizza and a salad. One bite of the pizza brought me back 10 years to when I was in Italy. This is very authentic thin crust Italian pizza, they bring it to you on a plate and you pretty much have to cut it up with a knife and fork. For anyone looking for an authentic taste of Italy, this is the place to find it.

  • Bryan J.

Settebello is a 3.5 star Italian-style pizzeria, were it in Naples, where tourists would flock, but the locals would definitely go elsewhere where the quality and value is higher. It's really only worth an occasional visit because this style of pizzeria is so rare in Utah. Settebello makes a below average based-on-canned-crushed-tomatoes marinara. If they add a good salt to brighten it, a kiss of sugar to "vine sweeten" it, or fresh garlic and a flavorful olive oil to deepen it, I couldn't perceive it. Furthermore, cheese should be in pools packed with dense, caramelized flavorfulness with frequent oases of high quality toppings that let their flavor stand out to be noticed. Settebellos cheese and toppings are thin-flavored, sparse (even by Italian pizza standards) and not high enough quality. When they asked if we wanted some "parmesan" with our pizza they brought a shaker bottle of that adulterated Green Can grade stuff. No freshly grated Romano or Parmesan here. No olive oil to drizzle on the hot and fresh pizza. No balsamic in which to dip your crusts. 3 star ingredients. I almost give them a 2. How do you mess up a Margherita? Fudge on your ingredients. It'd be a stretch even for the Pope to pardon this with grace. The only general food highlight is that they make a very good Neapolitan crust, dusted with ash, perfumed with smokiness, and charred with kisses here and there. (4-5 stars) Ratings for the 7 pizzas we ordered: Capriciossa (with egg) (3.5 stars); Capriciossa (without egg) (3 stars); Quattro Stagioni (3 stars); Del Cafone (3.5 stars); Margherita (2 stars); The Settebello (3.5 stars); Arugula, Pine Nut and Goat Sheese special (4 stars). A HUGE minus because the Carbonara and Friarielli (Rapini) pizzas, advertised on their web site menu, are not actually on the printed menu. And if you're looking for the Naples authentic french fry and frankfurter speciality--or abomination, as your taste may prefer--it's not on the menu. After all, since Settebello is supposed to be authentic Naples pizzeria, it would have been a delight to see this regional speciality. (Our kids would've loved it.) There's not even the classic "Roman" pizza (marinara, cheese & anchovy) -- which the Romans in turn call a "Neapolitan." Again, Settebello's Neapolitan authenticity comes up a little wanting. The energetic, noisy atmosphere is appropriate to a Naples-style outfit, and we found a good blend of friendly service (who got our party seated faster than expected), a willingness to take requests (fresh egg on the Capriciossa), yet a bit of deference that makes it feel European. Wait for our food was a little too long, but still a busy, cool place! And a gelato shop next door! The atmosphere, the wood-fired pizza aesthetic, the friendly service, and the staff itself could make Settebello a 5 star establishment. The food itself really should be superb, given how well they've done otherwise, and I found the quality almost unforgivably average. I tend to think, therefore, that the V.P.N. authority -- the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association based in Naples, Italy that certifies American pizzerias claiming to be Neapolitan -- are too relaxed in the certifications they grant, or that Settebello has relaxed the standards expected of them. It may be the latter because our friends said the pizza has been better quality and value in the past.

  • Jeremy J.

Hearing about a "True" Napoletana pizza: Exciting! Eating a Margherita here: Average... The crust was very good, but it didn't translate to the pizza. The Margherita seemed heavy and plain. I felt like I was missing something, because everyone spoke about this place in high regard & hushed tones. The focaccia was surprisingly dry and unflavorful. i might have been led astray by my Italian grandfather's focaccia, but I still couldn't get into it. The Bruschetta, however was very good. We should have ordered 2-3 plates of this. The service was abominable. Our server seemed like he was avoiding us. We had to call other servers to help us. This place should look to the pizza at Sauce in Phoenix. Slightly different concept but very tasty.

Best authentic Napoli pizza I've had since coming back from naples, italy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    (5)
  • Anson C.

If this is what authentic Napoli pizza tastes like, then I am a fan. Its has wonderful selection of pizzas that I haven't found in many places. The 4 cheeses pizza is great for cheese-lovers. In each slice you can taste the variety of cheeses used for this finely cooked artwork. This place can turn a simple margherita pizza into an amazing show of sauce, olive oil, basil and cheese. The Settlebello Pizza is my favorite. Their roasted pine-nuts really bring out flavours in every bite. My only complaint? Is that there's burned spots. They proudly set their ovens to 900 degree and "flash" cook the pizzas to give its unique, "wet" taste. But there oven is also the factor that prevents this place from earning 5 stars. I can't make pizza as good as this place. But I can surely make burnt spots on my pizza. I'm still very much a fan of this pizza restaurant.

Terrific Pizzas. The Calzones were also wonderful. I had the sausage mushroom salami pizza and it was one of the best pizza I have ever had. They also have Gelato for desert, I recommend the pistachio flavor which was very delicious.

The pizza was great - very tasty, and interesting flavors. Was much less a fan of the bottle of wine we ordered - a very mediocre pinot noir that was probably marked up $10 or $15. Stay away from the wine and this should be a good experience.

It was New Years Day and all I had was my iphone and Yelp to look for a restaurant to go for dinner after a long day of boarding. We all were craving pizza and most of the places i found were closed except for Settebello. It was pretty crowded which is a good sign. We ordered the salads and it was pretty good but I must say the pizzas were awesome!!! Love it!!! The pizzas are thin and all the toppings were good!! Its hard to find a pizza joint like this in OC or Westside so it totally hit the spot. Definitely will come back here on our next snowboarding trip. Service was good as well!! There's a parking lot right behind the restaurant.

Stumbled in on day two of Epic Road Trip '10. We were headed for downtown Marriott (just a couple blocks away) for the night and we were tired, cranky, and hungry and at least one of us was a little sunburned. It was noisy so that was great because we have three kiddos and the little one is especially loud, I believe we ordered a Capriciosa and a Bianca and they were both delicious although maybe a little sparse on toppings in places. We also got the Insalata Grande. In the end I wish we had ordered one more thing; we usually have the opposite problem where we order way too much food or the kids don't eat as much as we expect them to, but tonight there was none to spare. Oh well, that just meant we had room for gelato. We went next door for gelato afterward. I think this was the place where they said they serve a limited selection of flavors at the tables but if you go over and order at the counter you can pick from everything they have. There were many flavors to pick from and I honestly can't remember what we had or was it the proper gelato texture or not, but it was good and it was cold and we were all happy with our selections. My only complaint is the 1-seat bathroom is not enough for such a large restaurant. We spent a lot of time waiting in line for the bathroom, because my two girls never have to go at the same time, even when I demand that they do, and one of them always has to go twice. I actually had to eat cold pizza due to this.

    (4)
  • M K.

I'll start with the positive: the service was good and the salad was also quite delish! The gelato next door is also very good. Now for the rest: 1) a very small menu (a few salads and pizza, no sandwiches or pasta like most pizza places) 2) Pizza is their specialty and it's not even good. I had the Capresseo (half veggie, half with the meat). The crust was burned in many places (yuck!) and it was so flimsy it couldn't be picked up at all. And because of the thinness of the crust and the juices from the pizza, the crust was almost soggy. 3) They had limited vegetarian options. Every place has a veggie lover pizza but Settebello. They will leave the meat off the other pizzas, but why not put a loaded veggie pizza on the menu. 4) Dessert. They have gelato right next door in a connected room. The menu they give you in the restaurant lists only about half of the flavors available at the gelato counter. They offer one size that is $5 (do not tell you this on the menu). You can simply finish up your dinner and walk next door and sample the gelato flavors, choose what you want, and pay $3 for the small which is really all I needed that day. I can't believe this place got such great reviews. I was so disappointed! I thought that I might give it a second chance, but I was with a group of people and I looked at all the pizzas around me and they were all burnt!

  • Jeremy S.

Settebello is the real deal. If you want real, authentic Italian pizza, this is the place for you. Simple, fresh ingredients. My favorite is the margarita, which is cheese, tomatoes, and basil. I have eaten at Settebello probably a dozen times in the last 4 years with numerous different people. Everyone has left happy. As far as price goes, you'll be looking at approximately $10-$13 per person.

    (5)
  • John P.

I've had Settebello pizza a little burnt and a little soggy too, so they struggle a bit with consistency. But regardless, it is always incredibly flavorful and there's no place else like it in Salt Lake City. The ingredients are very high quality so you never get that post-pizza coma. Really, really good even on a bad day; we're lucky to have this joint in Utah.

Great Pizza. Wood burning oven. Fresh ingredients, some from Italy. I had one of the pies with fennel sausage. I've reviewed other Pizza places in Utah based on what the other choices were in the area. This place has a great pie, period.

  • Cheryl S.

Delicious! The crust is so tasty I could eat it by itself. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I don't think it's as good as it used to be when they had the original pizzaiolo. The crust edge is thicker, and the pizzas aren't cooked as long as they used to be, so they don't get as much of the charred bits on the bottom that are so tasty. We have to ask for the pizzas to be cooked well-done now. But it's still my favorite pizza place in SLC.

    (4)
  • Bert A.

A rare 5 star review for me but I've been to this restaurant a lot and have never been disappointed. This is legitimate Italian pizza which was confirmed to me by 3 Italian friends that said that it was authentic just like they get back home. My favorite is the Margharita and the Capricciossa. So if you like "the Pie" and think that "real" pizza is judged by the pound skip this place. If you want authentic pizza give this place a try. I like other kinds of pizza too but the quality and artisanship of these pizzas is great thing to experience.

Fantastic thin crust pizza that comes straight from the restaurants authentic wood burning oven. This is what I imagine real Italian pizza tastes like! We thought there was a mistake when we were served a whole pizza pie that wasn't sliced into pieces for us. When we inquired about it, we were told by our gracious waitress that they don't cut it for us because it apparently ruins the crust. Ruins the crust? How?, we asked. The crust tends to get soggy from the oils and juices of the toppings when sliced....Ahhhhh! Makes sense, no? We enjoyed barbarically ripping our pizzas into pseudo manageable bite size pieces. Oh My Heck! Surprisingly, Utah has some darndiddlyawesome pizza!

  • Scott S.

I'm surprised by some of the poor reviews here. Anybody that uses the term "toppings" in their review clearly doesn't understand authentic Nappoli style pizza. Setabello is all about the margharita pizza, and it does not get any better. Eating at Setabello is just like being back in Italy. It's every bit as authentic as what you'd get there. If you don't like Setabello, it's not Setabello you don't like. It's the style of pizza: Real and authentic.

  • Mungo S.

Just went for gelato (I guess this isn't a fair review because 3 stars will bring down the pizza). It was good, but not special. I don't think anyone making gelato in SLC has ever been to Italy, as I've tried several. The flavors were good, but the texture wasn't there. The richness wasn't there. OK for SLC.

Just read in the local paper that this place was just sanctioned by an Neopolitan Italian association that awards places for great authentic pizza. I lived in Italy for a couple of years. I can't tell you how the memories came back after my first bite of pizza from this place.

I absolutely LOVE this place (enough to create an account on Yelp). I had such an amazing experience at settebello. Firstly, the service and ambiance of the place was great. Very comfortable feel to the place. Once we ordered our pizza it was at our table in less than five minutes! I wished I'd timed it! I couldn't believe such a gourmet pizza could make it from the waitresses order slip to the table in such little time. The pizza was DELICIOUS! The best I'd ever had. Oh and I have been to Italy and eaten pizza there. This is in line with real italian pizza. It was both authentic and fresh. I highly recommend this place!!!

Tried the meatballs last time (avoiding carbs, but the bread was irresistible) and they were great. Plenty of fresh basil, which is always welcome. Waitress couldn't recommend any wine similar to a Zinfandel, but come up with a suggestion anyway. She also warned me about the spicy olive oil, which I discovered on my own last time. Looking forward to the Diavola pizza, which gets a lot of positive mentions.

Have been eating here since it opened. Food is 5 start +++. You will not get a better (authentic) pizza outside Europe. (If however you are think pizza has cheese in the crust and is smothered in cheese, this is not the place for you.) My review is about the wait-staff. The last 2 times in we have (1) waited for 10 minutes before our order was taken, (2) waited 20 minutes for our order (both times not very busy), and (3) the last time we went after all of that, our order was wrong and we had to wait again for the right order. Time were when SB had excellent wait-staff. Has managment changed? Have salaries been lowered? Anyway - be prepared to wait -- food is worth it -- but make your waiter/ress repeat your order.

Excellent pizza. Loved the cantaloupe bacon (or something). This place has a cute gelato place adjoining it. Loved the gelato as well! Only disappointment was the coffee. Meh! But they aren't claiming to be peets! Will be back for sure!

This is easily the best pizza place in downtown salt lake. The food is great, and the most authentic pizza I've had to date (I just went to Italy this last summer, so I know personally) the only problems are the noise and the service. The servers try their best, you can tell, it's just that there are so many customers. One of the best things about this place is that it is right next to a Gelato bar. The price is a little high, but it is worth it. The quality is great and I haven't had a problem yet with my experience with setebello. Definitely will return.

Settebello! I can't say enough good things. I have tried almost every pizza there and they are all delicious. But the best would have to be the Settebello. I love Italian pizza so this place is a favorite. Doesn't hurt that the gelato cafe is attached - also delicious.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
